Vanity, thy name is Pet

Och, that's reaching for it, innit? Regardless, Time Well Wasted's Justin Olivetti has posted about one of my favorite topics: collecting 'vanity pets', those (not always) little autonomous critters that follow you around and do little other than look cute. Actually, Justin's provided a well-thought-out list describing the things pets actually do, and he doesn't just talk about World of Warcraft, either. So it's stand up and be counted time, O Readers: What's your favorite pet, and what did you do to get it? In fact, I welcome screenshots ... if I get enough of them, I'll post a gallery. Imagine: your critter, famous! You may send your shots to akela.talamasca at weblogsinc.com.
[Thanks, Justin!]

No screenshots, but I think I must be the only person who loves their silly little WoW Brewfest Wolpertinger (part owl, part stag(?), part rabbit, since I never see anyone else running around with theirs.

The Brewfest pet model seemed a little "busy" for my tastes -- it looked a little too odd and not engaging enough. I'm partial to Miniwing on my main, but there's always something special about Mechanical Squirrels that I can't resist having one closeby either.

I'm grinding madly for the Captured Firefly pet in World of Warcraft -- just one of several Firefly-themed items and NPCs and quests in WoW. I've looted literally a thousand Bogflare Needlers looking for it.

Just got my Captured Firefly yesterday after many hours of farming, along with the newly-released Azure Whelpling for my husband (only had to kill two mobs for that one). I seem to be lucky at the dragon pets, at least - an Emerald Whelpling dropped for my shaman while he was questing in the Swamp of Sorrows.
My favorite character/pet combination, however, is my priest Fenchurch and her brown rabbit Agrajag. Vendor bought, but fun all the same. The Wolpertinger might have been nice, but no one else can see it unless they're drunk or in your party. What's the point?
