WAR class info: High Elf Shadow Warrior
Filed under: Classes, Previews, Warhammer Online, News items
Shadow Warriors can be traced far back to a time before the first invasion and subsequent war with Chaos. Back then, there were only elves -- no high or dark distinctions. These elves -- the Shadow Warriors -- originally called Nagarythe home, which is the land the Witch King Malekith rules over ruthlessly.
They agreed with the Witch King's ideals of being strong of body, loose of morals and ready for battle -- should the need ever arise. However once Malekith's eyes set on murdering the Phoenix King, it was the Shadow Warriors' sense of justice which caused them to fight against the Witch King. Don't be fooled, these High Elves are seen by their fellow High Elves as a mixed blessing for their questionable ways.
This is when a line was essentially drawn by Malekith's followers and those who disagreed with them. Enough with the lore stuff though, we're sure you wanna know about the class!
The Shadow Warrior is something of an all-purpose damage class. It offers players looking to be versatile in combat ability, however as far as high DPS goes the Shadow Warrior is inferior to other classes of its type. It's an advanced class that excels at making the best of any situation, utilizing different stances to be an effective combatant.
There are three stances for Shadow Warriors:
- Scouting – A bow stance that plays like your classic ranged stationary type
- Skirmish – A curious stance that still focuses on bow attacks, but at a shorter range and while moving
- Assault – Melee stance which allows for offensive and defensive chocies, or basically lets you run away to safety if a big baddie runs up on you
