We don't know if we've heard a term that's lit up playerbase of a game quite as fast as the term "welfare epics" did with the
WoW players. PvPers didn't take kindly to it considering many of them think that PvP is the most challenging part of the game. Now that it's being applied to badge gear from heroics and raiding, PvErs don't like it much either. Of course, some people don't really give a flying rodent's 4th point of contact about it, either way. Now what does that blurb have to do with the above? Well, the above
One Shot was sent in to us by Grohm, the level 70 Blood Elf Rogue. He pretty well summed it up in one line: "Season 1 welfare epics FTW." Shiny!

Jeff Kaplan came up with this term (welfare epics), because Jeff is a devoted is an old school EQ PVE grinder. I guess in Jeff's mind unless you spend 2-3 months getting keyed, geared and prepped (on top of acquiring the proper reputation) - then spend another 2-3 months getting thru an instance he's not happy.
To me PVE instances are so static and predictable. Within weeks there are guides posted on the web and the encounters become nothing more then connecting the dots and killing mobs that just stand there, unaware of your presence even if you're within spitting distance, over and over again. Then you get a new patch, and a new instance and you get to grind all over again to obtain gear so you can stand in the major cities and have nubs come up and inspect you.
