You're playing along in Star Wars Galaxies, enjoying the new content added by the Chapter 9 content patch. They've added a load of new stuff, like the Exar Kun heroic instance and the PvP repeatable collections. But what about the smaller content, the fun value-added stuff that you may not have had the chance to indulge in yet? One of the most entertaining of these smaller pieces of content is the Rattletrap instant travel vehicle. Previously only available to customers of certain SWG boxed sets, the ability to instant travel is most welcome on the game's large, sprawling planets.

But in order to obtain the Rattletrap you need to complete a collection. And who has the time to search the whole galaxy for all those pieces? Worry not, traveler. The devs want you to find this clunker, and they've made it exceedingly easy to do so. Today we're going to make it even easier for you by providing you with an easy guide to obtaining your own Rattletrap instant travel vehicle. If you have your own ship (obtainable for free from any factional flight trainer) this will probably take you all of ten minutes to complete. So let's get started!

The key to remember is that, with one exception, every crate of Rattletrap parts is in the same exact place in the various cities you'll visit. All of the parts are in city starports, just to the left of a shuttle ticketing terminal. Except for the one in Theed on Naboo, all starports share an identical layout. To find the rattletrap parts in each starport, start by heading out of the landing area; the open-air pad leads into a passageway that connects to the main lobby of the starport. Once you reach the main lobby, there will be a hallway to your right that leads out to the city. Head straight across the lobby, and if you look to your left there will be a grey and green ticketing terminal almost opposite of where you entered the room. Just to the left of that terminal is the container of Rattletrap parts. The container has a different appearance in a few of the starports, but if you hold your cursor over the crate it will let you know you've found the right place.
But where is 'the right place'? There are eight Rattletrap crates in all, and you're going to want to start in scenic Mos Eisely. From there, make your way across Tatooine to scenic Bestine, and from there to Mos Espa. From Espa, jump to the planet Corellia and the city of Coronet. Then hop to the other planet in the Corellian system, the world of Talus. You want to drop into Dearic to pick up your crate of parts. Then, just hop across the surface of the world to the Selonian city of Nashal. With that crate of parts in-hand, you're almost done. Head now to Naboo, and drop into the city of Kaadara. Grab that crate and you've just got one more to go.
You've probably already guess it, but our final destination is the city of Theed. The Kaadara crate collected, travel across the planet. You'll find yourself in a unique position: instead of appearing on a landing pad, travelers to Theed show up in the beautiful plaza in front of the starport. If you've never explored the city, I highly suggest it. For now, though, turn around and head inside the starport. Make a left or a right in front of the beautiful fountain, and walk back up and around to the huge landing bay in Theed's port. This is the room in which Obi-wan and Qui-gon made their daring escape from the Trade Federation in "Phantom Menace". There are no captured pilots here, though: just another box of parts. To find them, look to your right from the door into the room. There's a shuttlecraft parked off in that direction, and you want to walk past it to a small alcove. You'll know you've found the right place because there are three small boxes of grains along the back wall; just in front of the grains is the final part. Congratulations!
Now, to test it out. Use the item that's been added to your inventory to 'grant ability'. You now have a new slash command avialable to call your ride. You're going to need to head out of the city to try it, as the rattletrap won't appear inside a city's limits. I suggest you make a macro to use the device. To do so, open your 'Commands' window. Click on the Macro tab, and select 'New Macro'. Name it something memorable, choose an icon (there's a nice white starship in a left column right near the top), and then click into the macro text field. Now, what macro you use depends on whether you already have an instant-travel vehicle (ITV) from one of the box sets. If you already have the 'Royal' ITV your new macro should be '/callforrattletrappickup'. Your royal ITV can be called with the command 'callforo'. If the rattletrap is your only ITV, all you should have to type is '/ca' in order to summon the conveyance.
