Erling Ellingsen shows off AoC PvP video

Those of you not currently enjoying the closed beta will want to take a look at this: Age of Conan's Product Manager Erling Ellingsen gives us a look at a couple of PvP mini-games in the latest "Hyborian Insider" video. While there isn't a ton of information in this video, Ellingsen does explain the game mechanics behind two PvP game types, Capture the Flag, and Team Annihilation.Capture the Flag is exactly as you'd expect, if you've ever played that type before. The object is to retrieve the enemy team's flag from their side and bring it back to your side; the team with the most points at the end of a predetermined set duration of time wins. The video shows off a few zones of combat that frankly appear very similar to each other, and could use a better color scheme to visually differentiate themselves.
The second of the two sample PvP game types is Team Annihilation, which is simply about killing other players. There is a slight level of tactics involved, and it centers around a totem statue, next to which players will respawn. If you're able to destroy the totem, players will no longer respawn, and that could very quickly end the game.
One interesting item to note is that Ellingsen mentions that playes will receive PvP experience points for PvP gameplay, which they will use to level up their PvP stats and purchase items and equipment. Presumably, this system will be separate from single-player stats.
The video ends with a quick teaser concerning guild vs. guild siege warfare, which Ellingsen says will be unlike anything ever seen in an MMO before, but saves the specifics for future episodes of the Hyborian Insider. So, if you're absolutely starving for more AoC details, you'll enjoy this video, but otherwise, keep counting the days until May 20th.

Is there open world PVP in this game, or is it just arena matches?

Alright there is open world it goes as follows:
You have PvP servers where there are completely open rules for PvP. So to think of WoW PvP servers, except imagine Horde/Alliance weren't sides. It's just sort of I don't like you, I kill you. Regardless if you and I are both Aquilonians or Cimmerians or Stygians.
Guilds can take over one of 7 battlekeeps on the servers that are incredibly massive. They are giant cities with armaments, buildings, crafting stations, etc. Other guilds can attempt to attack this place using infantry and siege weapons that are created by players. (crafting professions) This takes place in the Border Kingdom, this is where the bases are located.
So both open world and siege combat give you PvP XP and PvP levels. Honestly just think of WoW in that regard with getting gear for PvPing and whatnot. Except I don't think it will take as long as WoW. I cannot be sure of that but it's just my feeling.
Then you have these PvP Minigames. At any time you select it from you GUI and you can play Team Deathmatch or CTF. The minigames are distractions from the actual open world PvP. It's just kinda hard to show that in a video you know? If you have any more question just ask in this post I will answer to the best of my ability.

I not use to care much for PVP and after playing WoW I hate it...... I am more a PVE player and the on mount combat sounds so great the quest plots and they even will have instants and raids... And there graphics are just wow :)
I found out the level system is pretty much the same like WOW you can get a mount on 40 (better one at 60 maybe).

To my knowledge there isn't a better one at 60. The level cap is at 80 so you have quite a ways to go.
