The Goons are building an Age of Conan city
Filed under: Age of Conan, Culture, Economy
In a show of devotion to either Age of Conan or Something Awful (we are unsure which), the SA Goons and their guild, the Hordes of Goonheim, have begun construction on the first user city on a PvP server. It's also possibly the first user city in the game. In a post on NeoGAF, a Goon going by Justin relates how they got the city started and the celebration-by-trampling over their accomplishment. Hats off to those devoted Goons willing to sacrifice their time, money, and most importantly, social life to build an Age of Conan city.
One can only wonder, though, that what would happen if the Goons dedicated more time to philanthropic causes than building cities and running EVE Online alliances. The Katrina fund was just one example of the power of good that goons can do when prompted (even though it was shut down by PayPal). What if they spent more time volunteering than playing Age of Conan?

That seems like an awfully crass suggestion to make. What if this blog were shut down and its resources were given to charity? Would that make you happy? It wouldn't make me happy. It would probably make some orphans somewhere happy.
What if everyone everywhere stopped having fun and devoted their every hour to making sure everyone in the world had a fair shake? Would the world be a better place? It would be a more just place, but would the net quantity of happiness really go up?
The Goons are just gamers having fun. Plz to stop telling people how to spend their free time.

Me and my guild just started the construction of our first city yesterday... kind of.
I think we just have the land plot at the moment.

I wonder what MMO bloggers could achieve if they donated their time and meager earnings to a charity of my choosing.
Quit the sanctimonious crap. You want to pick on someone? How about getting professional athletes to match Bill & Melinda Gates or Ted Turner when it comes to giving back. Not the damn goon squad. They're all sitting in damp basements anyway, right?

Its not the first city as "The Axemen" from Norway, a top notch clan first from WoW, was one of the first to get to rank 20 with their pre-release account and had the city open at the same time as the game was fully released.

they werent the first city. they are actually the worst players on the server running around taking absolute pride killing lowbies and ganking 1 person with 10 people. then when they get ganked they troll and flame. its sad that 10 of them died to just 4 of my guildies. and they were all the same level. they just hype themselves up by spamming forums en masse. FAIL!
