First glimpse of Age of Conan PvP gear!
Filed under: Fantasy, Age of Conan, PvP
Naughty, naughty FunCom Devs. To get Age of Conan players salivating, and possibly to distract attention from some recent hiccups, they've posted a sneak preview of some very pretty new items. The character looks like a Ranger, but a Ranger dressed like we've not seen them dressed before. This is not the repetitive brown stuff we've been hearing complaints about. Take a look at it in its full glory, and we think you'll agree this is gear worth showing off.Reticent at first, AoC developer LordOrion has confirmed (in the midst of a coughing fit) that this is PvP gear. Along with the announcement some days ago concerning an imminent PvP consequence system, this whoops-how-clumsy-of-me 'leak' further confirms that the PvP system is seeing some serious tinkering behind the scenes. As we'd hoped, PvP rewards are definitely in the pipeline.
So when is this going to go live? There's no clue as yet, but LordOrion has said there will be more treats coming on Friday. As soon as we see anything, we'll stealth up to it, give it a Pin Down bowshot and hammer it with Salvo before it has a chance to escape.
UPDATE: LordOrion has just announced that the controversial jail system, originally planned to be part of AoC, will not form part of the PvP consequences: 'there are no plans for a jail system'.

some classes I play for fun, some I play cause they are overpowerd, and other I play cause they just look BAD A**... Time to roll a Ranger...
P.S. I hate PVP, but for set's like that I will suck it up.

That armor is pretty damn awesome for light armor. Looks badass without ending up just being fucking ridiculous like World of Warcraft's armor.
I still remember some of my rogues tier gear, my god. So much of it was so silly and just unnecessary.
This however, makes me look forward to seeing more of the top end gear. I was down a bit on Age of Conan a few days ago but all this new info coming in about PvP is getting me excited.
Especially with the news that that "jail system" wouldn't be implemented, thank god. Now lets just hope that my new Tempest of Set will have all this new content out for once he gets higher level.
PS: Also I've been happy with how funcom has handled balance so far. Yes, guardians are pissed about overreach but it was so OP to the point to where I'm convinced it was a bug. From what I've heard it could practically one shot others (at least squishy players) at top levels. Something like that does not need to be in a tank tree.
Other than that though, buffing the weak classes = awesome. Hopefully they'll just buff them up to the more powerful classes level.

this is getting a little off key, but speaking of Rangers, and speaking of bugs. I played a ranger during the PVP weekend... talk about overpowered! I could shoot arrows into anyones face from any distance even point blank and take down most everyone even tanks in about 5-6 shots.
not one to enjoy such things I quickly rolled another toon. the real reason i wanted to play the PVP weekend.. NECRO.

I do remember the PvP weekend, Rangers had a bug which made them do twice the amount of damage. =D
I played a conq in the beta which translated to me playing it here on retail. However at 57 I'm not really digging the tanking style of PvP sometimes, and in solo pvp thats what I do.
So instead I rolled a Tempest of Set =P
And, yes, this is getting really off key but oh well -- it is about PvP. However I'm curious on how PvP XP is going to work, and if it'll run off of your current K:D ratio as well or something else entirely.

The Jail system comment was later backed up by LordOrion, saying that the system that was first brought to light would be replaced with another system.
