Wrath of the Lich King beta keys sold on eBay for big bucks

Blizzard handed out WotLK beta keys at Blizzcon and the Worldwide Invitational, and unlike the opt-in keys, they're not tied to any particular account. That means that anyone who has the slip can register and use them to participate in the beta. Enterprising individuals who acquired those keys are now selling them on eBay for outrageous sums of money. Eurogamer reports that the UK record so far is GBP 513, or more than 1,000 US dollars.
Right now, you can buy one for $400 on the US eBay store. It's true, you don't have to be filthy rich to have 400 bucks on hand, but we figure you'd have to be pretty close to filthy rich to actually spend said money on such a fleeting and empty joy. It's a beta, after all; it probably doesn't even work!

I just ebayed mine for £650 - That's a little over $1200!
When I saw one go for around £500 I simply couldn't justify using it. Good luck to the buyer and good for them if they can afford that ammount, I know I have better things to spend it on!

IF you just search for keywords "wow beta" plenty more come up, one of them being the Buy Now for $400. There's no reason to remove these items, as the sale of them isn't forbidden afaik

There are people who have paid around $300 just for that Gamers' Day cloak item in Warhammer.

Fact is though the beta is for an upcoming game now Wrath at all, I have my key sat right in front of me and it's for an undisclosed beta (ie not Wrath).
So people selling them on ebay are ripping people off left right and center, selling this as Wrath keys.

The guy I sold mine to is in the WotLK beta right now enjoying it, you're missing out on Beta time, or cash should you sell it!
