WoW player's guide to GW: Character advancement
However, the point of that level 20 cap goes beyond the simplicity of progressing just for that higher number next to your name. Guild Wars was originally created to focus on game play and not so much character development. With an easily-achievable goal of level 20 only a few dozen hours into the game, you can focus on so many other aspects of the game such as storyline advancement, dungeons, high-level zones and skill hunting, to name a few. Plus, as many WoW players know, when you can't play with your friends because they're 10 levels below you, it kills that whole socialization and fun thing. GW eliminates that with a quick leveling system that is there to merely introduce you to the rest of the game.

This is easily one of the best features of GW and I shudder to think why they are removing it in GW2. However, that being said, I have faith in the amazing team at Anet and hope they do a good job. I took up this game as my first MMORPG(because it was free) & I loved every minute of it till my guild started leaving one by one.
If you have a regular grouping guild in GW it's fun or else the content might seem to limiting in nature.

I actually wish Guild Wars would do away with whole numerical measurement and just have adjective rankings. You can say I'm a Mighty Paladin, Which would be like saying I have level 13 Warrior/Monk.
They could just have adjective rankings for each level or skip a few levels for a ranking. The duel professions could also get morphed into one description. wherein a Warrior/Monk is a Paladin, a Monk/Warrior would be a Disciple.

So amazing, this is what makes the game so much more accessible. I don't have to sacrifice a social life or put in months to play along with everybody else.
And anybody who thinks hitting level 20 puts you right on par with seasoned level 20s is very, very, very wrong.
