The MMO genre is more than World of Warcraft, Age of Conan, and Warhammer Online. Here's what's going on in the rest of the world.

Trickster Online celebrates the Olympics with new themed items

Even MMOs get into the spirit of real world competition, and Trickster Online has some themed items for your enjoyment. These masks, hats, and capes will have a particular country's flag on them; collect all five of each and receive a special item of each type. Check them out before the Olympics ends!

Outspark Games offer Olympic-style competition within their titles
From now until August 24th, San Francisco MMO publisher Outspark will be hosting the Outspark Games, a series of Olympic-styled competitions within their online offerings. Titles Fiesta, Secret of the Solstice, and Project Powder will feature special events in-game. Expect medals to be granted to the top three winners, and increased experience points offered to all participants.

Aeria Games' Cronous now in closed beta
Cronous is Aeria Games' newest MMO, currently in closed beta. From the sounds of it, it runs along standard lines, with leveling, spells, and skills, but there is an item growth factor that allows your equipped items to gain in power as your character advances. Look for an open beta to come.

Priston Tale and Ace Online coming to the US
Newly-formed US MMO publisher Wicked Interactive has teamed up with Korean developer Yedang Online to bring its flagship titles Priston Tale, Priston Tale 2, and Ace Online to American shores. Wicked plans to introduce a proprietary hosting platform, to be announced later this month.

Atlantica Online closed beta reopened for participants of first phase
NDOORS' Atlantica Online reopened its closed beta to participants of the first phase on August 7th, after shutting everything down to incorporate beta tester feedback. The second phase of the closed beta features a new PvP "Challenge" mode, and there are special events planned for players from which prizes of 2 GB flash drives may be won. It's not known at this time how long this phase of the beta will run.

MangaFighter gets major overhaul
GamesCampus recently upgraded its popular MangaFighter MMOFPS with game-wide enhancements. Among these new features: new weapons, changes to experience accrual, fewer players in Death Matches and Team Death Matches, and new sound effects. The most intriguing addition is the 'No More Than Twenty Minutes Game Option' -- the 30- and 40-minute options having been removed.

Lizard Interactive's Sho Online gets its first expansion
Two Emperors, the new expansion to Sho Online, features a brand-new pet system, allowing players to choose one of four different pets to raise to aid them in battle. Additionally, 47 new quests will give players that much more to do, including an audience with the Emperors of the expansion's title.
