Mythic Entertainment has released a new trailer for their upcoming
Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning title, and it has to be seen to be believed. The video follows the action as a rampaging horde of Destruction forces assaults the Order city of Altdorf, and offers high-quality cinema depictions of a number of classes from both sides. The Squig Herder, the Dwarven Engineer, the Maurader, the Shadow Warrior, the Sorceress, the Bright Wizard, and (of course) lots and lots of Black Orcs are big as life on the small screen.

I'm really curious to see some of the Sorceress' frost/chill effects in-game. Everything I've seen so far depicts them as dark-magic; I was unaware (until this trailer) that they could also command the forces of Cold.

Wow, coming from a fan of just fantasy in general and an avid MMO player, that cinematic was amazing to watch, hopefully the game replicates that.

@k
well from what I've seen form beta, I just got in as a CE buyer, the sorcerer/es had an path of what looked like ice shoot out of the ground in front of them and shatter afterward, I'm not sure on all of this as I didn't get the chance to play one yet, only grouped with them a few times. so far WAR is looking good, certainly needs improvements, but has potential to be great

That looked amazing! But does that remind anyone a little too much of Lord of the Ring battles.

Is there anything wrong with that? I mean, really. That's what most games now a days is missing, is the massive PvP or even PvE battles (except Tabula Rasa, which has the best, most massive PvE battles to date that I can think of).
The whole "be a hero" RP part of the MMORPG genre seemed kind of weak when everyone was doing little and the battles were sub-par. Now, for WAR, I can do my part for my realm to defeat the enemies, win the battles, and eventaully the war (atleast, until there's a reset).

I actually feel bad because A LOT of what new players of Mythic games (basically RvR) are saying they REALLY like about WAR was implemented in DAoC; a game nearing 7 years old!!
And yes, DAoC had its heroes and "villians" in real people and what they accomplished. When Gisli from Vengence of Valhalla called a Call to Arms, you DROPPED everything that you were doing to go defend the relics. When we, as mids, saw that single 8-man alb group, Siegann was the first to be killed because he'd made his repuation that way. If you sieged a keep claimed by the guild Odyssey, you KNEW to expect 24+ people to show up with guns blazing.
RvR will be epic. You will know single players and guilds by name for their deeds. There will be heroes.

Larry's statement is very true, I still remember several names from midgard and hibernia when I used to play Albion on Guinevere.

Wow that was pretty awesome. Blizzard level cinematics. It wasn't just showing off pretty graphics, it told a lot of little stories as well.
I'm not really anticpating WAR, and doubt I'll even try it, but that was pretty cool.

I feel that same way. I'm not interested at all in WAR, but the movie was pretty cool... Just not as cool at the Lich King movie Blizz released this morning.

I'm probably going to get flamed for this, but having seen both the WAR and Lich King trailers today, the Blizzard one didn't do much for me beyond 'oh..cool..but the Burning Crusade cinematic was cooler'. It didn't make me want to rush pre-order/play the game (like the BC cinematic did).
The WAR cinematic was more of 'holy fcuk that's cool', I really want to play the game!
But I guess it's just a matter of taste :-)

Yea can't wait for the reset and release, the sad thing is when it is released I will be preparing for college and I won't have time to play and that might also make me lose interest. WAAAGH!! I hate college.

That was really really cool. I had problems streaming it for a while (so so slow) so thanks for the vid link.
It captured what WAR is about so did its job. Its easy to criticise cinematic trailers as they dont really tell you much normally but this did. It told a story, showed the feel they are looking for and some of the classes were very well portrayed. Tchar'zanek at the end was very impressive hehe. I just hope they can bring that level of 'holy sh**ness' to the game for launch and in future updates.

I can't stand these alliances, in Warhammer they just doesn't last. Maybe for that one battle, but after that it's every race for themselves. And that Tzeentch champion commanding orc armies, what the hell is that?

@DePetri:
It's told in the background story:
The Greenskins' leaders are under the influence of the Dark Elves' Leader (Malekith) who plotted all factions (except Chaos) into that huge war. The Greenskins are just following their warbosses and when there is something to bash, they'll happily come and bash it. ;)

Maybe it's just me but I don't think that this cinematic was half as intriguing as any of the Blizzard cinematics and those are years old now. I felt it looked a little dated and it definately hasn't made me any more excited to actually play the game.

Longterm/hardcore WoW player and fan here AND am in WOTLK beta.
I just wanted to say....
Are you high?
It blew the new WoW "Bich Queen" vid out of the water.
I'm in preview weekend as we speak and yes its freaking amazing!
If its half as good as it is now when it releases i'll be put my WoW account on hiatus and I doubt i'll be returning to wow's beta.

I dunno, I'm with SgtBaker on this one.
The WoW cinematic was really cool, don't get me wrong - but it wasn't anything I didn't expect already. It was Arthas, and a big undead dragon, with a nice voiceover by Arthas' dad - but it had absolutely nothing to link you into the game. No character at all - just a raid boss' backstory that anyone who knows the lore already knows.
The WAR cinematic had me on the edge of my seat. It had dark humor, it told a story, and it featured the characters of the game and not some raid boss. That was a cinematic based off gameplay - a city siege no less. I *still* laugh every time I see that ork hit the rooftop during the Marauder/Shadow Warrior opening, not to mention the squig herder.
I dunno, both are excellent but I feel the WAR one just had more character to it.

I was a 50 sorc and remember well the first time I stopped over (it seemed) 100 mids in their tracks with my lvl 44 mezz. Yes I remember putting down everything to go defend the relics. I still have nightmares about this little kobold on the Merlin Server. He was the ultimate assassin but I cannot for the life of me remember his name? I'm sure it will come to me right after I hit submit.

That cinematic was absolutely awesome. On the issue of the WoTLK vid, it doesnt hold any weight when compared to this. Seriously it was bad, no action like this one, also had no relevance to the game like this WAR one does. I've been playing WoW for ages and have been in both BC and WoTLK beta's, but i am definately dropping it to go and play WAR.
