New Age of Conan video showcases coming content

The tour then checks out Black Castle, the mantis-infested stronghold in the south of Khopshef Province, which is 'completely revamped' in the new version, the main focus being on Indiana Jones style traps that require ingenuity and co-operation to tackle. Ellingson explains that Age of Conan is deliberately borrowing from World of Warcraft in its reworking of boss fights, to produce encounters that require specific tactics to beat; we're glad to hear it, as bosses right now are a bit too much of the bag-of-hit-points kind. Next stop is Ymir's Pass, a Cimmerian zone under bandit onslaught, featuring one of the hugest bosses we've seen. We also hear about upcoming level 80 dungeons and the PvP consequence system.
One thing you'll hear Ellingson say repeatedly is 'we listened to our players'. That seems to be the message Funcom is most keen to send out right now. Check out the video after the cut.

God, a lot of stuff in that video looked amazing.
I hope FC can pull the game out of its post-launch slump - I still believe it has quite a lot of potential. I mean, you have the most impressive looking MMO on the market with a pretty serviceable active combat system and great source material.
Besides, if Vanguard has become a good game, anything can happen.

So, directly copy elements from other games, state you're doing so in promotional videos, continue charging ahead when your current game is essentially non-functional, and promise even more features you lack the ability to create.
It'd save Failcom a lot of time and money if they would just record Erling doing his used car salesman routine once then continually replay it. No need to buy him plane tickets - green screen it and done.

Why are everyone being so hatefull against Erling Ellingson?
The presentation included alot of stuff people have been screaming about for months, they are trying to set things right.
They are working on the weak points of the game, and to be honest, the quests he described in the new district of Tarantia sound refreshing and is not the "kill 10 boars"-kind of quest.
I have been considering leaving AoC, And I don't really think the Black Castle stuff will affect me that much even though its quite nice they implent stuff like that.
But after the pictures of Ymirs pass which of course is just another area but with alot of story imbedded which gives the gave a bit more depth.
I've seen people hating so much these last couple of days debating Warhammer forth and back about another game of kill X of these and speak with person Y, however thats justified or not people now flame Funcom when they actually are aware of the situation and add stuff like these "moral"-quests that we only can see in games like knights of the old republic with the dark side and its lighter counterpart.
Give them some credit, they are invested in the game and financially they are not comming out a winner if they drop the project, I encourage and support Funcom if they continue to add more content like the new district of Tarantia.

So it's so nice you wrote such a lengthy comment, gives me something to absorb. Now I doubt you were talking t me but my opinion you get none the less. I'm gonna go ahead and assume you didn't read my comment, now it seems Erling is trying to pass Black Castle quests off as new, when they're not, they've been there since the first time I venture in there. Now we come to your post, yes he's giving us what everyone has been whining for. Though I hardly think giving players things that were promised to be in launch (dx10, pvp. ect) deserves a pat on the back. As for content, great. Moral quests? Already in the game, there's even one on tortage. Good thing they don't actually matter, or else we might actually have a bit more depth. Let's not even mention client stability.
Now don't get me wrong, I love my aoc. Combat system, while not what I expected. It is much more engaging that most games. World pvp, exciting. Graphics are great, will be better with dx10. Though it's still missing something, there's not a whole lot to do at 80, it's pretty boring.

Although lets see it from Funcom P.O.V they spent alot of time on revamping Black Castle I bet they want to show everyone what they've done.
Personally I never done Black Castle, tried to solo it once but couldn't get that far, I only heard rumours that they implemented something like it, but I didn't realise what they did untill now.
And about DX10 and PvP system from the release. I don't know what it said about a fugitive or a murdered system (consequense system?) being there from release but I take your word for it that it said so on the box, and the DirectX 10 too.
Even so, I rather they started working on the instabilities for the Dx9 instead on working on both version at the same time on live servers.
Forgive me for my ignorance but I don't remember such a quest on tortage, must have slipped my mind.
But after seeing this im sure this is 1 big step towards bringing a sense of depth and funfactor at and after lvl80.

I think it looks awesome.
Shows that they take the critisim and handle it according to the protocolls and procedures once decided by the companys staff based on the values of the funcom organization. This game is here to stay and it will be more and more amazing.

Why are they attempting to resuscitate a game that has fallen into a brain dead coma since a month and a half ago? There is STILL the grey map / game crash bug, STILL, who the hell leaves a bug like that around for 3 months? This games sucks so bad..... With Warhammer / Wotlk incoming, this game/company has no hope. Failcom has failed since the first month of their shitacular release. The game sucks, it has no hope, the pvp/pve blows compared to WAR's, the raid/content sucks compared to WoW and the costumer service is worse then trying to get an Indian kid to explain to you why your internet is not working after imputting 17 numbers on the menu and waiting for 5 hours. Tbh, that's actually preferable over AoC. This game feels like a brown bag with a turd in it waiting to be stomped out by someone. It sucks.

im just glad they get some more content. Personally my client only crashed about 4 times since the release, and the grey map was only there in the beginning. Never ever had that bug since i came back from holydays at the end of july.
second, there is NO guarantee that Wo Will be better @ release, and WoW is a 4? year old game that should be al lot less buggy. There is just no comparing atm.

The New Content and quest types just look awesome, personally i can't wait for this to be released, it might just make lvl 55+ a lil better. Although i think that it wont be much fun to be in an area from lvl 55 to 80, but atleast there are 4 area's including dungeons there now.
I think in about half a year, when they finished this game(and we paid enough) the Game will be fun to play from the start again, as they should have added enough new content

Well first of all, i gotta love stupid comments like "failcom failed" bla bla...
Well they might fail at start, but its not Funcoms fault, but the people with their pocketmoney, give Erling and his crew some credit would you.
I have played all mmo games out there, and well most of these games are more buggier than this, you guys just whine with no context.
Anyhow all of this new stuff looks purely awsome, im still sticking to the game with my girlfriend, and we enjoy it alot, and this new content on the way, its gonna be alot better, even then, i must admit they have failed abit regarding DX10 and PvP sure... but let me see... i can name alot of games that failed alot at start, World of Warcraft regarding endgame content and "pvp items", second come on... this game isnt even ½ year old and you complain... christ... Name 1 MMO that has had a PERFECT launch with every content, bug and what not implemented / fixed? ZERO...
I rest my case give it a rest, dont like the game? Go back play Vanguard, World of Warcraft, Tetris, Matrix Online, Bubble Bobble, Star Wars Galaxies or Eve Online, who cares... this game isnt your taste or you dont get the MMO world correctly and what everything handed to you every second... who cares, i dont.
I enjoy the game and stick around, sorry but its just sad people whine and look down on Funcom, i can start looking down on poor service and endless item grinds and much more like in World of Warcraft or what ever game... in AoC its alot more funnier imo.

I have to say I really liked AoC, and I never had much problems with the game. Its good to see that they are adding things to the game. I hope I get some free time in the future so I can continue to play.

the gray map bug was easily fixed by changing some options in windows command prompt...client crashes...never heard of them...and pls stop compareing this game to WoW...I'm a big wow fan but they have had years to fix every little problem the game encountered ...and are still far from perfect...remember AV's lasted for hours...lol days even...they fixed that?...remember the quees for battlegrounds before cross realm pvp...they fixed that to...remember how u fall through the map in WSG sometimes...that they dident fix(some bugs off the top of my head but there are many more)...but they had time to do it...AoC is a good game...if they step up to the plate and give us 75% of what they promissed it will be great...as for the DOOMSAYERS ( funcom failed, WoW>LIFE guys) ur probably all underage and lack the capability to be patient...and the sense to know that it's impossible to make anything perfect from day 1...so I say go color ur WoW user manuals and w8 for WOTLK

Crying about a 4 month old game is stupid...wait a year..i mean most of the people who crash and have issues with aoc have there moms old pc...get a real pc and vid card then play..or go back to wow..lol wow..what a bs game..like warhammer..its wow-2..go there and drag all these crybaby weenies with you...
