Ryzom opens free accounts to new users

With the recent news of Ryzom's slow rebirth, allowing previous subscribers to reactivate their accounts for free, we're happy to report that free accounts are open to new players as well. This new account reactivation is happening in increments though, so if you've unsuccessfully applied previously, be patient! These activation stages will occur when each previous limit is reached, gradually bringing the populations back up in the game. This new player activation is completely free, but they say it won't last long. If you've never tried the game and were put off by the reports of its untimely death, now is your chance to see what all the buzz is about.

Being a newcomer to Ryzom myself, I have to say it's very puzzling to see the troubles it has had. The game is practically Pre-CU/NGE Star Wars Galaxies all over again! You'd think that there would be at least a decently-sized audience for this game, enough to prevent the financial issues it has had at least. Perhaps its name just hasn't gotten out enough.

Really good news to the loyal ryzom fans. This game was very well made and the pvp was actually pretty fun. I doubt i will go back though, usually never go back to a game after i quit or it dies for whatever reason, but his is one game that deserves a second look from folks looking into a new mmo or wanting to revisit ryzom.
really weird bunch of problems from billing to whom would host it before it died. Nice to see it back.

Keep checking a few times a day, they make them available pretty often.
Fun game, by the way.

My initial experiences with it were a bit shady back in the day, had some technical issues and a few quests just weren't very clear to me (yeah.. read before you click here for sure).
Bit worried it may be too "sandboxy" for me once you get off the island as well, but when we get a moment we shall definately have another look as I'm hearing good things and this community is supposed to be pretty good as well (how many MMOs have you heard of who came back to more than 3 people?)
Would be nice if the new owners communicated the direction they intend to take this, but I suppose they're just testing the waters for now. Successfully if all the people newly discovering this and having fun are to be believed.
