A reminder from Mythic: Warhammer's head start begins this weekend
Filed under: Fantasy, New titles, Warhammer Online
Mythic sent along a reminder that the headstart information we noted at the beginning of the month still applies: your very first chance to get onto Warhammer Online's launch servers is this weekend. Collector's edition preordering WAR-fans get in first at 7am EDT on Sunday the 14th. Everyone that preordered the regular edition gets in at 7am EDT on Tuesday the 16th. The game only went gold at the end of last month, after a beta period the developers have been running for more or less two years. This is the first time that players will be able to create characters that last longer than a few weeks; starting on Sunday September 14th, the world goes to war! The game launches 'proper' on September 18th.

Yes! Can't wait! First time I've taken off work for a game release since EverQuest 2 (was a huge EverQuest 1 fan from release), and that was unfortunately short lived. I'll be starting Sunday and have the entire week to sit and make my ass fat playing WAR and living unhealthily, don't let me down Mythic!

I'm looking forward to really getting to play this. Beta is fun, but I have a hard time really investing anything major into it when I know my character will just be erased. I haven't even gotten past level 6 lol.

I feel the same... I mean it's nice to get a headstart on your class, but I got to level 9 on my DoK and really want to play more, but I just hate the thought of him getting deleted. Probably will just make new classes from here on out to become familiar with them.

Unfortunately we can't expect the same thing in EU at the moment.
I have little hope that we will have a launch on Sept 18th.

Sadly for EU players even OB didnt started yet, but we can look at shiny pre-order box and dream about how would be nice being in real game ;)

Congratulations to readers being serverd by Mythic. Enjoy the game ^_^
Those being served by GOA will be very lucky to get in even when the game really launches on the 18th.
$ days into Open Beta and I still can't log on...

Also don't forget CE buyers, if you got your copy from Amazon you will be playing a week after the game comes out for normal buyers. Maybe longer because Amazon loves to sell more copies than what they really have in stock. :-)

What are you TALKING about? Everyone playing in the Head Start will be playing using the downloaded client because no editions of the game will be available from any retailer prior to the 18th anyway. That's been Mythic's plan since they announced the CE, months ago. There's instructions for this on the WAR Herald.
As I see it, the box I get from my retailer is merely a pretty formality for holding my backup discs and all-important retail game code.

It doesn't say 7am EDT on the Herald. Are you sure it's 7?

And where is the mac and linux version if you intend on competing with WoW? Same way as Age of Conan, design for largest part of the curve. AND- this will most likely be the typical EA Game that loses its support and is overrun with hacks.

Except this is a game developed by Mythic, not EA. I'll give you a 3/10 for at least the effort of knowing that sometimes EA developed games are shit.

So... Michael, still think Order is going to outnumber Destruction on launch?

Kind of disappointing that Mythic allowed all the blogs (including this one) and retailers to claim that those that preorder would have a headstart on Sept. 15, if they were not planning on starting it than they should have corrected those selling preorders with incorrect information.
