Warhammer Online sits atop latest NPD PC games chart
Filed under: Fantasy, Warhammer Online, News items

All this news about Warhammer Online selling really well isn't entirely surprising, considering the positive buzz it was getting leading up to its launch. What we're really curious to see are the next few weeks worth of NPD lists. As other PC games come out and the cold lumbering beast approaches, things should get pretty interesting.

I'm beginning to wonder why every positive piece of news about warhammer needs to be concluded by a "boooohh but wotlk is coming!"

Spin journalism, its tough for people to run a site without their own preferences creeping into every thing. But this is a blog site, so I guess you get what you get; opinions.

Warhammer good sales may tell you what you like, to me it just reminds me how poor market is and how famished players are... who will accept the most boring games.

And this tells me that probably you didn't even try it. Warhammer is one of the most fun and varied MMO experiences released since ultima online, and comes with the most content at launch since the beginning of the genre. Quite the opposite of boring.
I'm sorry for you, if warhammer's success makes you cry and makes you feel the need to try and spread some misinformation about it, but you can't change reality, I'm afraid. More luck next game.

Heheh see? You're one more proof that audience is THIS famished, you will take dung for willy wonka's fudge.
It takes A LOT of stomach to consider a user-friendly clone like Warhammer as a "MOST varied and fun experience".
It's just that we are THIS used to crap like World of Grindcraft.

More spin.
i had to check this out for myself and went to a few place in the olympia tacoma area, after the preorders were taken (and some that were not claimed) the ones on the store shelves havent sold. 6 stores i checked had boxes leaving at the rate of 1 per week (avg, with some not selling any since preorder), and a couple stores are not reordering when they do finally run out.
my little contribution to anti spin in washington st.

I think a lot of people were burned pretty badly by Age of Conan and are a little bit more wary of a shiny new MMO coming their way that could end up being the same disappointment. I also think WAR has a little bit of a hurdle to overcome since it does look visually similar to WoW. Once the word gets out that this is a very solid piece of work, more and more people will trickle in.

As I said, Gylfi, it's pretty evident you didn't even look at it, not to mention play it. You're just running your mouth without knowing one bit of what you're talking about.
Again, more luck next game, This one is running well, and people are having great fun in it, despite you :D

I have 2 War:CE boxes myself.
I quite like it, fun and is something good to add to the Warhammer TT game as Games Workshop control the whole content of the online game.
WoW is only a Warhammer rip off, after all Warhammer as a TT game has been around for a solid 40+ years now.
People who say WAR is a clone of WoW must live in a bubble.
Can't wait to see what will happen with the other 8+ races that haven't gotten into WAR yet.
