LucasArts and BioWare confirm impending announcement
Filed under: Sci-fi, MMO industry, New titles, News items

EA's John Riccitiello already confirmed the existence of that game under the table way back at E3, and other tidbits of news have only supported it since then. But hey, we suppose it could be something else. It was suggested in the Massively offices that maybe LucasArts bought the rights to He-Man, and it is in fact a He-Man MMO. Or maybe GI Joe. Yeah, we're a-stretchin'. More likely: a Willow game.
According to Worlds in Motion, the invitation says it's "the game that's been rumored about for years." Uh-huh. The announcement will come October 21st, so hold your horses. Or your speeders. Whatever.

At least the Knights of the Old Republic has a lot more potential without voiding the cannon then SWG did.

Hopefully they decide to do it right, and take some chances.
I see too many developers/studios trying to put the MMO experience "on rails" and it ends up not feeling like a living, breathing, open world experience. They need to keep that in tact for this one!

I can't friggin wait! Hopefully the game system will be as open and varied as SWG's (but with a good deal more fine tuning). The lore for the old republic is vary strong as well, so it should work pretty well as an MMO.

Golly, I can't wait to see how EA and LucasArts are going to shit all over a once-beloved RPG game series.

Golly, life must be fun when you're this pesimistic. LOL.
I can't wait. I'm just hoping that since it's been in development for a while, that they'll announce a 1Q 2010 release, and not something like "in 5 years".

It's hard not to be pessimistic when
1) Lucasarts' meddling already destroyed one Star Wars MMO and
2) Bioware'll probably be reduced to EA Canada by the time this game's released.

I heard that SWG was good up until they changed the mechanics of the game practically overnight. That change decimated their subscribers.

I will smile so hard if this turn out to be a MMO base on the cartoon network series clone wars. Point and click for kids :D
