Striking new zone opened on Age of Conan Testlive
Filed under: Fantasy, Age of Conan, Patches
Players have been asking for new Age of Conan content for a while now, and one of the biggest content gaps had been the mid-50s. That's the levelling range the new Ymir's Pass zone (previewed some time ago) seeks to fill, and it's now opened on Testlive. The developers want to make it clear that Ymir's Pass is a work in progress, and as such is not complete. We're keen to see what it's like when it's done, because currently it's gorgeous. It's far from being the only new AoC content; we've still to see the Tarantia Commons and the House of Crom yet.
No sooner do you enter the zone than an inhuman bellow echoes through the air and the ground shakes. Something huge is making that sound, and the story of what it is (and why it's suffering) is played out through the zone. The first thing you'll probably be doing is looking for footprints. Colossal ones.
To help players test out the new content, the Goddess Fate has been placed just outside Tortage where the former level-up contacts were, and she will do pretty much anything you like: increase your level, give you money or a mount, or even teleport you somewhere. She's the only way to get to Ymir's Pass for now, so players that would like to check out the zone on Testlive should roll a new character and talk to her.

Can't wait. Age of Conan has really turned around since Craig Morrison took over. The last 3 weeks of patches have been stellar, and the influx of people coming back means there is hope for this game yet. This patch kicks arse!

Friend of mine is testing the game out again. I'm still really skeptical, but I will admit they are taking large leaps now towards their goal.
That being said, however, they still have a lot of room for improvement.

Wow Craig Morrison really knows how to turn a game around. Although the launch... sucked, I'm actually back into playing the game because it keeps improving!
This update looks fantastic, I'll be looking forward to some reader reviews of the new content. Vive La Conan!

the game is making a great turn around. Sil is doing a hell of a job as the new game director, and i agree, this patch is really looking good. no time frames on it yet though, but if i had to guess ide say mid to late november?

You guys are making me want to try it out again. Is it really so much different than it was a month ago?

@MightyIdle It's improving a lot more now than when GG was GD. It's still got some fixes to work on but It's turning around by leaps and bounds now.

The game has improved alot. they are still working on alot of things though, but the stability issues and the really out of balance class issues seem to be fixed or getting there. granted there are always special cases as far as performance goes, but all in all its an improvement on FCs end 100 fold.
Its worth a try, but i would be weary of the server you roll on as some are a little skimpy atm. Im on tyranny and its pretty busy. Deathwhisper is also pretty full and sounds like Cimmeria is too, but no clue on PVE servers.

Wiccana (PvE RP) seems to be booming in the last 3 weeks. Since the PvP system patch, and the generally positive direction the game has taken since Sil came on board, I think it's bringing people back for a look. As far as the technical issues that plagued AoC, I'm consistently as 35FPS without any issues AT ALL. If Funcom could only patch voiceover work throughout the while game, I'd consider AoC one of the best MMOs on the market. As it is, I quickly grew bored with WAR and am not renewing my sub. Back to AoC full time and can't wait for Ymir's Pass to make the Live server!

It's a vastly different style than any other major MMO out right now. The combat system wasn't for me, but I think there's plenty of room out there for AoC and WAR to coincide.
