Warhammer Online 1.0.5 patch notes live, Public Test server opened
Filed under: Fantasy, Patches, Warhammer Online
Over on the official site for Warhammer Online, patch notes are now available for the latest big update. Patch 1.0.5 is not only be a nice big refresh for the game, but will also be the first which players can extensively test on a Beta realm with copied characters beforehand. This public test server will ensure that the content Mythic pushes to the live service is as polished and useful as it can be. The patch itself will offer several improvements to the game, including:
- Rally masters at every war camp for easier traveling.
- Morale abilities should work more reliably.
- More penalties and offsetting for players that try to garner renown and XP by going afk in Scenarios and Public Quests.
- Numerous tweaks to class balance. Many classes had their damage output increased, but a few felt the sting of mild nerfs. In particular, snares and roots were examined very closely by the balance team. Careers that were heavily affected have had their Career Mastery points refunded.

Snares/Roots had to be nerfed. They were killing melee. Anyone that says it's BS, is either a Sorc or a BW and doesn't want to cope with have to think more now.

Now that's a lot of balancing! We'll just have to see how it goes. I like most of the changes in principle, lets see how they go in practice.
Mmm... Not sure I like the Iron Breaker Grudge changes, but hey with all the love I had to be hit with at least a little nerf bat.
Also, Iron Breakers get to use Hammers now (instead of just Axes). Surely this means Hammerers are out and Slayers are in!

That's most definately the same conclusion i got to. It's by no means final proof (but do we really need one?), but it's a quite big hint of the demise of the hammerer. Welcome home, Slayers.

Right, so the solution to Bright Wizards and Sorcs ruining PvP because they are so overpowered is to?............. Increase their damage! Woot! Job done.
Oh wait, dont forget nerf healing too. Healing that is seriously under-powered at T4 as it is.
I dont have a clue what Mythic are playing at with these changes. Sure other classes have had their DPS increases and DoTs increased but that was never the problem. It wasnt that people were not doing as much damage as Bright Wizards, it was that Bright Wizards were doing so much more than everyone else. No its not the same. Bright Wizards and to a lesser extent Sorcs are extremely overpowered as it is, even before these changes. Instant DoTs, Root, Snare, Punt, Heal Debuff that also hurts any healers who try to heal that target.
I know some people will say learn to play my class against BWs properly but my alt IS a BW. I also have a Disciple on another server two, both of which are lvl 40. Its so much fun playing on my BW but thats because it is so damn easy to take someone down. Even an equal level Zealot (healer) doesnt stand a chance when i focus down on someone. Aslong as i keep behind the hoard picking away they just drop like flies. So yeah its fun but it doesnt make me blind to the balance issues because of it. I made my Disciple as my main and soon found that regardless of what class you are, get focused on by a BW and chances are you are dead unless he's a very stupid BW.
Bah, im ranting so ill finish up.
Basically these patch notes came out of the blue and when everyone was expecting a big BW nerf, they boosted their damage instead. Cant wait to play my Squig Herder again but until they sort out BWs and Sorcs Warhammer is seriously out of balance.
For those wanting to know whether they should play the game? Id say sit tight and wait until they have nerfed BW's first. You'll get bored when in every scenario you are fighting a squad of 6 BWs.

I've just got to post this finding from the warhammeralliance forums:
"As I have said here for 3 years, we'll do what we need to do in order to make WAR great and if that means pissing off some people, we'll do that." Mark Jacobs
That's hilarious, freakin' hilarious. It's also good to hear as well, I think.

I think its less about pissing people off but people having faith in the dev team. At present there is no explanation why they want to increase damage across the board when healing is so underpowered anyway.
I think if we had an explanation then atleast we'd know the reasoning behind it for go or for worse.
