Age of Conan composer nominated for Best Original Score

Funcom's most recent title Age of Conan tends to come under some fire from the gamers who jumped in upon launch. You may have noticed. While players can fault some aspects of the game, it does have some strengths, namely its fantastic score. In fact, the music of AoC has caught the attention of the Hollywood Music Awards. Knut Avenstroup Haugen, who composed the soundtrack for Age of Conan, has been nominated for Best Original Score in a Video Game, specifically for his "Ere the World Crumbles" from the fantasy title. We also turned up an interview with Haugen about the challenges of scoring Age of Conan, and of composing interactive music in general.

I agree. I don't think anyone could dispute that its music was astonishing.

yeah, the score was lovely. Too bad that the music is probably the least impotant factor in a MMO.

The music and ambiance of the game was fantastic. I do miss that part of it.

Even this die-hard LOTRO fan will readily admit that AoC's soundtrack blows any other MMORPG out of the water.

Easily the best game music I've ever heard... the soundtrack CD from my CE (yes I know, stop laughing...) has been removed from the game box and sits in pride of place on my music collection. If it gets the award it's well deserved, it's better than most "real" music on the market today. I hope the Video Games Live people pick up on this one :-)

AoC has some fantastic music. Got goosebumps when I first entered Conalls Vally. Good stuff.
