Warhammer Online 1.0.5 patch lands on the live servers
Filed under: Patches, Warhammer Online, News items
The 1.0.5 patch for Warhammer Online hits live servers today and with it comes various small fixes and changes, mainly focused on RvR improvements. But that's probably not what everyone's the most excited about. No, that would be the fact that 1.0.5 is the start of the Heavy Metal event for players interested in trying out the new Reikland Factory Scenario and getting a chance at playing the Black Guard and Knight of the Blazing Sun a week earlier than everyone else.
We're sure that everyone is going to be quite busy playing around in the new Scenario for the next week or two, hopefully it won't be much longer now before some of those career and open RvR improvements come down the line. You can find the full patch notes after the break.

- Highlights
With 1.0.5 comes The Heavy Metal event! Fight and adventure for your chance to play the Knight of The Blazing Sun and The Blackguard before anyone else!
Character collision in RvR has been improved. Players should no longer move sporadically when being blocked by another player.
Players who go AFK while in Public Quest areas or during keep sieges will no longer receive contribution credit toward those encounters. - General Changes and Bug Fixes
There were some instances in which the reticule for ground-target-area-effect abilities was allowing these spells to be cast in areas which were not originally intended. This has been adjusted.
Several issues have been addressed that previously allowed players to get to locations they were not supposed to be able to reach.
Players will no longer appear mounted when they are not. - Realm vs Realm
Fixed several issues that caused the User Interface to display improper Zone Control information. Objectives and Keep icons as well as the Zone Control bar will now properly display the status of contested zones in Tier 4.
Tier 4 Zones: Based on player feedback, we have reduced the number of Scenario Victory Points required for Zone Control. Also, Battlefield Objectives and Keeps are now worth more Victory Points, and capturing a T4 zone can be accomplished more quickly than before. - Warhammer Online Website
The Realm WAR offers many new features to help you stay in the game even when you can't login! Check out the changes for yourself and visit realmwar.warhammeronline.com.
Fixed Leaderboard Weekly calculations to correctly represent the current leaders. Weekly Leaderboards are calculated every Monday at 5:00 AM EST. Note removed due to feature requiring further development time.
Changed Realm War section of the web site to reflect new navigation options.
Added Realm War selection page with server status and direct links to RvR Racial Pairing pages of each server.
Racial Pairing pages display current status and level of each city, status of the Tier 4 campaign, and victory point sliders for each zone.
Added maps of each zone focusing on RvR lakes with the status of each objective and keep, as well as Guild keep ownership, and when the keep was last taken.
Provided a Campaign status pop-up so players can keep a discrete tab on the progress of the war on their server.

GTFO! Hell ya it is! I could care LESS about some stupid event that allows me to play something I don't have to do jack shit for, other then wait an extra 7 days.
The VP fix will give T4 Orvr that push that makes the goals of it more attainable. Finally! I-city will fall on the Averheim server!!! WAAAGGHHH!!!

I hope you know that most likely during this event, everyone and their grandmother will be running Reikland Factory, thus the "WAR effort" will be null during that time (even if it is easier to do).

not in my guild. If the call goes out to RvR, and you ignore GMs, you're gone. We're very RvR oriented.

Exactly. It depends on people, most definately not on the system or events. On my server open RvR is very active, and it will be even more active now :D

Did you just yell WAAAAGH for the raiding of a DESTRUCTION CITY?
Come on.

Nah. It's established upon recruitment. We're not for everyone, and our leaders let people know. No one is rude, or demanding, and there's no power struggle. It's just explained when you decide to join "if you're logged in, and the call goes out, you're expected to be there" No matter what. Dungeons, Forts, raids, liars, PQs, w/e, come in second to defending or assaulting in RvR. It's not "doing what they say" it's accepting that our guild's main focus is always Orvr.
If nothing is happening, you're free to do whatever you want. And they make sure there is an actual need before making the call to arms. Scout the lake, wait a few moments, take the stragglers they can. But if a full WB or two of Destro show up, it's business time.
We’re not even that picky if you suck at PvP. Just that you show when called, and that you make an effort.

Not another scenario, they are splitting up the game. It's a fun game but I just grew tired of logging in to an empty game world. The scenarios were the only good place to gain Reknown. Hopefully they fix the ORVR and make scenarios damn near worthless to run. However, the game engine was the biggest problem for me as I couldn't play due to the stuttering problems. WAR is a nice game but needs alot of engine polish and direction.

Forcing people to partecipate in your favourite gamestyle (which is mine too) isn't the way to solve things. If Open RvR isn't desirable enough, the solution definately isn't making scenarios "worthless", but simply to make open RvR more desirable. and Mythic has been working a lot on that.
this not to mention that Reikland Factory is probably one of the best examples of PvP design in the story of MMORPG (not to mention art direction). It's simply a lovely piece of gameplay.
If it's an example of the quality of the content mythic is going to provide for live events in warhammer online, there's a lot to look forward to.

@Abriael What server are you on where OPvP is very active? I'd like to switch to that server.
