Outspark announces closed beta for Wind Slayer 2D MMO
Filed under: Fantasy, Screenshots, Game mechanics, MMO industry, New titles, Free-to-play
Wind Slayer, not to be confused with the sexy Champions Online villain Mind Slayer, was first announced late last year from the MMO's publisher Outspark. It is described as "a 2D side-scrolling MMO that features six classes, character customization and player-versus-player modes." Did we mention it's free?
Now, the closed beta for Wind Slayer has been announced for January 7th through January 14th. This short closed beta will be used for player feedback before the open beta begins in February, and an official launch is slated for later this year. Check out their website for more details on entering the closed or open beta.

wow, that looks like a blatant copy of maplestory.
it tries to differentiate itself only by offering pvp,
something the maplestory community has been pining for.
its kinda the same way runes of magic is like WoW...

Same here, I glanced at the image as I was scrolling down and thought "Hmm, a post about Maple Story? Wonder what's going on now, maybe more private serv-- wait what?"
I don't see balanced massive pvp working well on a 2d scale, but hey, feel free to prove me wrong.

Will any country in Asia EVER come out with an appealing MMO? That's the real question. They all look so cheap and shallow.

to ttvp:
yeah, i know what you mean.
if they are going to try and do something like that,
they would have to completely change character types or the ways skills work.
as in maplestory, a high ranking archer would absolutely destory anybody that came close to the the knockback effect,
and then you have your thieves, jumping all over the place...
if they played it a fire emblem type way like rock, paper, scissors combat, i suppose it could work as long as the teams were always balanced,
and thats another issue altogether.
to theadrick:
if you haven't already tried it,
seriously try maplestory,
people don't give it alot of credit.
sure, level progression is pretty linear,
but it is surprisingly deep.
i really enjoyed my time with it,
and every now and then ill redownload the client to try out all the new things.
