Soloing Lord of the Rings Online from 1 to 20

Not everyone is a social gamer, even in an MMO. There are many players who would just rather play by themselves, while still occasionally joining a pick-up group or their kinship for the more difficult quests. There's nothing wrong with that, as Turbine acknowledges in a new series of guides for Lord of the Rings Online aimed at the solo player.

In this first guide, the focus is soloing through levels 1 through 20. There are helpful tips and tricks on everything from picking the right quests for you to knowing when to run. It's a wonderful seven-page article just filled with so much helpful information, that even the veteran players may find it useful for any new alts.

I go as far as gamers are not social. Only reason to have guilds, parties and raids is to get gear and(or) knock out quests you can't do alone.

even if you are a social gamer, its great so solo your alt's to 20 just so you don't have to bother your kinship with n00b quests.

I solo'd in LOTRO until 25 (by necessity).. then I quit because after 3 months of playing I still hadnt made any friends in the game.

The prospect of soloing in an MMO just doesnt make sense to me. Massively Multiplayer means WHAT?

I don't know, my Kinship is quite social. In LotRO there are player run events that are surprisingly common and most of the time people just play music and goof off. There's definitely more to it than just questing for many people.

Um, finding a way NOT to solo 1 to 20 would be the challenge.

I'm not sure what the problem is. I've never had a problem finding people to group up early on... A lot of people seem to join a Kinship quickly, so they can rely on kinship chats for help if they need. There's always people with alts who want to get them up faster.

The thing is having a reason to, largely. Most of the early quests are easily soloable. But I always run into people doing them who are generally eager to group up and get things done... All you need to do is talk to them.

I guess it depends on a lot of factors, but I never personally had a problem.

I never ran into any trouble finding people to do quests in LOTRO. People are happy to shout for help and join up if you're shouting for something they've got queued up.

Where I was always let down was by the fact that people will join up and do what they want, then immediately split without any additional level of socialization. No "Hey, what else can we do together" or "Wanna go exp together now?" The whole experience left me feeling a bit hollow.
