Warhammer Online's 1.2 patch might just bring you back
Filed under: Fantasy, Patches, Warhammer Online, News items

This patch is chock full of goodness but if you had to pick the top three highlights, they would probably be the Bitter Rivals live event, Zone Domination system, and fixes to combat and careers. Bitter Rivals is a weeklong live event that will provide you with plenty of fun tasks to complete, a new Twisting Tower scenario, and the ability to unlock early access to the new Slayer and Choppa careers. Zone Domination is an alternative way progress the RvR campaign more quickly. It also encourages more rigorous defence of objectives and keeps. Every single career in WAR had some of their abilities fixed or balanced, which makes this the most comprehensive career balance patch since 1.06 in early December.
Make sure you read the full 1.2 notes because they cover so much more than this.

"Almost every area of the game is affected by 1.2, including combat and careers, crafting, itemization, quests and public quests, items, realm vs. realm, and the user interface."
Yet, it was on the test server for 2 weeks, and one of the weekends was ONLY T1 & T2 Slayers and Choppas.
So, if you feel like something that makes game wide redesigns can be accurately tested in 1.5 weeks (for actual character Xfers to test) sure... it'll bring you back.
I don't want to become bitter about this, but I honestly don't think this patch is nearly as polished as it should be.

Honestly, how much testing is required for classes and functionality that was *supposed* to be in a game from the get-go, then pulled? I'd attempt a clever analogy, but at this point, even thinking about WAR is depressing and a waste of time.

It's more in regardes to the estabilshed classes. Their changes will have huge impacts on the player base until 1.3 is released. But, yes, I think the new classes interactions should have been heavily tested in T4 (at 40+, ... not weak ass level 28) to see how they meld and increase or decrease a factions effectiveness.
if they need to go into a closed beta setting, so be it. But their method and deployment thus far isn't helping their cause.

You can't fix a game that is fundamentally broken and non-fun no matter how big the patch is.

The game is neither of those things. You're a troll w/ an agenda.
It's out of whack, which is only your opinion and mine, but idiocy like your posts helps nothing.

JP the fanboy strikes again!
The game is flawed by design, and is nothing but arcade whack-a-mole PvP. That's fine if that's all you want, but please don't call it some massively PvP focused game, as it isn't. I'd call it a massively arcade pvp game, that tries to be a third rate wow expansion.

Lethality is what I would call a fanboy but I can't think of a game he actually liked based on his comments. I can not imagine someone spending more time talking about games they don't even play. Most people just take their ball and go home, he just forgot the go home part.
I had some issues with the WAR but over all I thought it was fun. It had some really good ideas but not all of them well put together. If it had been more out of the box thinking then I think that it would have done better intially.
I hope the game does well and I might even come back and try it in a few months.

my sentiments as well. sorry if I wanted to grind scenario after scenario, I'd play a single player game. utter stupidity. and after all their failures, they are making scenarios MORE important... just wow. clueless. Just wow.

I have been waiting for this, I will reactivate my account at least for a month to see how much it has changed. It was really fun when I first played it but the population imbalances sort of took away from that. Hopefully with the new classes there will be more lower level players in instances so I can finally level my shaman hehe

woah, how much cash is Mythic slipping your way Massively. Not quite enough to dedicate every story today to WAR?

Hehe, I was just thinking the same exact thing. They're really trying extra hard to put this game over today.

I actually do complain about the amount of EvE coverage on this site.

Resubbed to Warcraft for a month, my month of WAR was up and you know what I got bored of being pwned by the rediculosly overpowering waves of zerging destro forces.
Might try it again in a month
Might not.
WAR is better, but for me it got very old very fast.
I think I'll roll a horde shaman and see what thats like....

The anti-WAR comments are just silly. The patch is very cool and very deserving of the coverage Massively is giving it. Looking forward to new realm dominance system and the Twisting Tower. My Iron Breaker is also going to enjoy resting his ax in a Choppa's face!

not everyone is an anti -WAR troll who attacks it. I love the game. Our whole guild moved there and once we got to Tier 4, we found that there was NOTHING but more scenario grinding. All I had to read in these patch notes was that they were trying to improve scenarios rather than eradicate them, and I knew that Mythic still does not "Get" why everyone left.
Nadril said on 4:23PM 3-03-2009
As much fun as a Slayer or Choppa sounds I'm sure the game is going to be filled to the brim with them. Other than that I just don't know if I could go back. Maybe if Mythic offered a "come back and try the game for a week" type of deal.
Also what happens if my server is one that has transferred to another one? I mean, would I be able to transfer or just be stuck on there?

JP said on 4:40PM 3-03-2009
You'd be able to Xfer. Those transfers don't expire. So, if you & your friendswere on say... Drifting Castle, that was then able to Transfer to Averhiem which transfered to Ungrim which transfered to Iron Rock and that were your friends land. And you came back, Iron Rock would be availible for you to transfer to.

Thanks for the clarification. I was kind of worried there even though as of now I have no plans to come back.
