LotRO's Spring Festival features aMAZEing new content

The Lord of the Rings Online Spring Festival is now in full swing, and you may be pleasantly surprised by the fact that this festival offers a few differences from previous festival events. Sure there's the new(ish) horse, and the other usual suspects in Hobbiton, Thorin's Hall, Duillond, and Bree's Horsefields, but this season we have a maze!
Detailed in a recent developer diary, the Hedge Maze is "intended to bring players together for a new challenge that will take place in a more close-quartered public instance than we've seen previously in the game. There are chickens to be caught, Elves to be scolded, signs to be posted, records to be beat, and a very sinister surprise at the center of it all." This festival also brings a new notification system for these events, getting the word out to those who may not read the official LotRO forums. Check out the complete dev diary and the official forums for more on this year's Spring Festival.

I wonder when it'll be live for us Euro-types...
Anyway, the festivals are always fun. They're silly and a bit repetitive at times but there are always some nice rewards to be had.

I absolutely love LotRO, just as I enjoyed playing WoW and Guild Wars, but I really do not *get* the seasonal events in any of these games. I have never found any of them to be any fun or at all worthwhile. Though I confess I did run through the "orphan" quest line in WoW one year and got a minipet for my troubles.
I'd like to find an article here (or anywhere) telling me why I should bother with this maze (or any of the Spring Festival quests) but I have yet to find one.
So, someone, what do you get for running this maze?

Running the maze you get leaf tokens, it's a repeatable quest with four givers.
The leaves can be turned in for house items, like pot plants or sculptures, or a fluffy "trout slap" emote and a trout slap weapon (yes it does damage).
There are many more quests outside the maze tho, and importantly, it's more the fun to be had chasing chickens than the loot you win.

The events usually give you a variety of items. By completing minor repeatable quests you're given tokens which you then hand in to receive various random rewards. Some are "standard" items, such as cosmetic outfits or food but others are special items. In the Winter Festival I got a Festival Tree, a Holly Wreath and a Dwarven Snowglobe for my house.
