Masthead Studios to help create the Fallout MMO?
Filed under: Sci-fi, Business models, MMO industry, New titles, Rumors
We all knew that there was a Fallout MMO in the works, thinly veiled under the title Project V13, but now we get word that Masthead Studios will be involved in its development, according to an article at Eurogamer. Apparently, Interplay will still be the official developer of the game, yet they will be using Masthead's technology, tools and resources. Of course we all know and love Masthead Studios for their upcoming MMO (also post-apocalyptic) entitled Earthrise.
Project V13 has been in development since November of 2007 and was in the news several times for various staff changes such as the inclusion of original Fallout designers Chris Taylor and Jason Anderson. Anderson has since left, but all signs point towards this "top secret" project being some inception of "Fallout Online". After seeing what Masthead has done with their own game at GDC last week, we're now even more excited about what a Fallout MMO could become.

I don't care how bad the reviews are, I'll try a Fallout MMO no matter what. I may not stick with it, but it's always worth a try.

Agreed. If it's half as fun as Fallout 3, it'll be worth the bucks.

Yea! Fallout 3 is fantastic... to bad it will suck as an MMO. Go kill ten rad roaches ,optimized gear for sewer raids, PvP "balancing" etc... blah!
MMO will kill the RPG of a great game.

Radroaches are a filthy, disgusting scourge upon post-apocolyptic humanity and they must be eliminated... ten at a time sounds like a good start.

So were the ten:
- Boars in WoW
- Wolfs in LOTRO
- Rats in EQ
IMO the logic of "a greet single player RPG will make a great MMO"
is as misguided as the theory of
"a great engineer will make a great manager"
Now .. Masthead could prove me wrong (and in lots of way I hope they do).

Fallout 3 is fantastic untill the end where it turns into sucks! Now if this game got the rpg part of Fallout 3 and more content them the 3 fallout games togetter and not is a mindless shooter I may give it a look.

most of the original fallout people are not involved with the V13 effort. I really don't think it will come close to doing the fallout universe justice.

since most of the original fallout devs/writers are not involved with V13, i'm pretty sure it will suck.
