The9 releasing World of Warcraft clone or Warhammer Online?

At the moment all we know about this mysterious new title comes from the trailer website. For starters the teaser site uses a font familiar to anyone who plays WoW. Indeed the web address itself (www.wofchina.com) is but a letter away from the official Chinese WoW site. However that weird stargate-esque contraption is straight out of a Warhammer Online starter area and The9 is partially owned by giants Electronic Arts -- who also publish Warhammer in North America. It could easily be a cheap ploy to get gamers interested in a WoW clone or a legitimate teaser site for Warhammer with a terrible Chinglish title. We won't know for sure until the 'gates' open but when that could be has not yet been disclosed. We'll bring you more as soon as we find out.

Uhm NO Chinese games have to be sensored by the government and I'd bet BIG money that since they STILL won't let Wrath release WAR would have to be completely transformed to be acceptable to the Communists.
Its all censorship wearing the blanket of protectionism.

the reason they could not release wrath was because skeletons where shown and thats a no-no in Chinese culture. However a lot of the gold selling companies work with the US client off US servers.

The coloring of the thing in the back is a bit different from the one in WAR. It wouldn't surprise me if they made a WoW clone.
WAR would have to be seriously more edited to be launched in China... They have truckloads of undead for example.

Yeah its warhammer but the bad news is that all the war is taken out and all toons are turned into dogs and all blood remove and all maps replace by hello kitty friendly maps!

The Chinese make no pretension that it isn't censorship. Its a communist nation, they don't worry about pandering to the squeaky wheels, they just line em up and shoot em. Something to be learned from every culture i guess.

Well WAR isn't even Warhammer it's some kiddy version so it would fit right in in China and it doesn't even have gore, instead it has colourful spell effects cause they basically made a generic WoW clone.
I hate all these generic WoW clones man, we have WoW so make something new cause I don't wanna play the same shit over and over.

It is quite clear there was MORE to it than a simple no of the Chinese authorities when WotLK was postponed.
Clearly having a disctributor in the hands of your biggest competitor (EA) was NOT the right path to go for Blizzard.
The "obstruction" was clearly too obvious and so they HAD to change the server handling to a new company who already owned the rights to D2 and Starcraft.
IF the "new" game is nothing more than the Chinese version of Warhammer it shows how perversive the attitude of EA really is (was).
It may cost Blizzard some millions of Chinese customers, but in the long run you can't possibly depend on some second hand blackmail from your direct competitor. And as eastern subs are not even controlled or verified with stock noted companies, everyone can invent sub numbers on the fly.
It is also proof what kind of company EA really is and I must say Mark Jacobs is just the right man working for those crooks.
Now if they (EA + Mythic) only would make decent mmorpg's it wouldn't be all that bad, but even that is too much asked.
Sad when gaming companies battle like that : they should create NEW innovative games instead of money hungry copies.

Yes, lets all jump to conclusions and immediately assume that the evil EA corporation was behind the problems with WotLK in China because the9, who is on the verge of facing bankruptcy is desperately trying to get another game that brings players to it.
And lets ignore that the share of EA in the9 is small.
Oh, and lets throw a couple more insults to Mark Jacobs and EA shall we?
And lets forget the fact that EA is going to release (another) very decent MMO soon, produced by Bioware called Star Wars: TOR.
Lets all just freakin bash WAR, burn Mark Jacobs in a pire and bomb the EA HQs shall we?

Besides, EA aren't nearly as bad as Activision are. In fact, and I thought I'd never say this, EA are improving since years ago.
