Survey says: LoTRO for Xbox 360 could debut at $12.99 a month

Other information gathered by looking at the survey includes a question asking about microtransactions for things such as equipment and other items like additional classes/races. This doesn't confirm that such a thing is happening for the game, but merely that Turbine seems to be looking into the prospect.
As GameDaily points out, this is hardly the first time details about upcoming games have been revealed via online surveys. The very same thing happened with Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars last year, setting a precedent for this information containing at least some truth. So now the question is: When will the official announcement be made? Well, E3 is right around the corner, so there's one guess.

Hmm Haven't played my Xbox in well over a year, going to send it in for red-rings now in case this does happen, Never played LOTRO further then level 17, but with a crowd and the ability to get server/World (Xbox) firsts on the line, definetly worth it

And last thing they better do is release an item shop system, especially if its selling new races, classes, and equipment. The latter is one thing, but those first two would genuinely tick people off.

I recently quit WoW and have been playing LotRO a little through the trial. I hadn't heard they may be porting it to XBox. This now pretty much solidifies my decision not to spend money on LotRO and wait for some of the other new MMOs to release or go back to WAR.
LotRO could be the next WoW while they endlessly try to balance the game between consolers and PCers.

It's not entirely far-fetched to think they could go with a lower monthly fee. The game already frequently holds promotions with a $9.99 fee on the PC, and could make themselves stand out from the crowded fantasy PC-MMORPG market with a lower price point.

This would end up being a double subscription thing or not? I was under the impression that anything multiplayer/online on the X360 automatically meant one needs to pay for Xbox Live service, then players would need to add a monthly fee on top of that for LotRO or is there another sort of deal in the works?

It would be three in that case. XBOX Live is partially a transport service, partially a matchmaking service, so you've got that, your internet (another transport service) and the game. The big thing is just that you can't normally use the matchmaking servies of xbox live without their closed transport service as well. I still enjoy xbox live on my 360 many times over the service I try to get on my PS3 (which I like for other reasons). The most reason thorn in my side being Age of Booty, which appears to work on my PC and my 360 multiplayer but not n my PS3/PSN (seems to be the case for many people).
I don't mind paying for quality, but since I'm a founding member of LOTRO online I'm hoping that I don't have to pay another subscription to the game itself.

II correct my last. I haven't played in on PC. For some reason I thought I had, then I realized I had to activate it when I started it up. i guess I've just played the PS3 and 360 versions (without much multiplayer success on the PS3)

I think this is more rumor than anything else. I think Turbine does have a console game in the works but not with LOTRO.

I use a Mac (video production & designer) and I won't buy a PC just for gaming. Sick of keeping up with expensive hardware just to play a few games when I have the time (which isn't often nowadays).
My Xbox gets a lot of use with streaming Netflix and gaming. Right now I'm trying out FFXI for my MMO fix. I'm looking forward to AOC coming out for Xbox (if it does) and if LOTRO does too then I will certainly play it.
I'm sick of the elitist PC gamer kids bashing on the consoles though. Grow up guys. There are many reasons to play one over the other, and your way isn't any better than my way.

Anyway, if you have a mac you don't have to buy a PC for PC gaming. You could just dual boot your mac and have both OSX and Windows on the same machine.

Haha. I think I'm one of the few non-elitist Mac users... Those guys irritate me as well. I've considered dual booting. I might give it a shot once Windows 7 comes out and if Boot Camp supports it. I've heard good things about it so far...
But even still, I like to keep my gaming on the console so I don't get distracted when I'm working. Hehe.

It is kind of Ironic that my Mac had better performance when AoC was in beta than my PC did in XP mode-heh. The chipset and the CPU are pretty powerful. Even the PS3 chipset outperforms forms the Xbox 360. That is why I think the PS3 is a better choice over the Microsoft red ringer of death 360. On semi’s chipset on the board cause overheating amongst other semi conductor companies
I really gave this some thought and my only issues with a MMORPG on the console are the functionality of a UI. I prefer the functionality of a keyboard over the handheld control. Could anyone see Eve Online porting to the console with that UI without a keyboard?
Now if you look at the PS3 the hard drive is a laptop hard drive. You can add external drives. You can back up data onto a USB storage device. It functions more like a home computer. Plus I can hook up a keyboard and a mouse to it. And most of all I can play blue ray movies. And let’s not forget that you don’t have to pay a fee with Sony to get online.
I can’t really see why Turbine would go for the 360 for LOTRO if this is true. It must be because the 360 is more accessible to the public because of its low cost. And that is something that Sony needs to take care of. Other than that I think the 360 is a defective engineered POS>

Good points. Separating players is probably a good option for a lot of MMOs moving to console, especially if PVP is involved. But I don't think you can completely discount the console MMO market just yet... because there's only been 2 true MMOs on console that I know of (EQOA and FFXI - I don't count PSO as a true MMO).
In fact, one thing that I don't like about PC MMOs are the levels of customization... Ever since playing UO and AC when the third party tools got popular, or even WoW with it's zillion add-ons. I think the flexibility should be built into the system, the customization should be there to an extent, but I don't personally like having to plug in add-on after add-on to try and keep up with the Jones'.
Personally, I'm looking forward to more console-only MMOs because then how can anyone complain about an unlevel playing field? Nobody has a better system or UI... it's all the same.

I have 4+ years of experience with FFXI, which is 360, PS2, and PC, and honestly a true MMO doesn't work on a console. I played on PC most of the time, and PC players have a HUGE advantage over console players if they're on the same server. On a console you are left with the "vanilla" UI, but PC players can infinitely modify the game with plug-ins, skin swaps, and other tools (mostly illegal in FFXI but that didn't stop anyone). Also, most console players won't have a full sized keyboard, which drastically impairs what you can do and how you can communicate.
If you have an active subscription to LoTRO already, I doubt they'd make you pay twice. And for the record, you can play games like FFXI without paying for the 360 Gold subscription, so I'd assume other MMOs would be the same.
