Next World of Warcraft patch announced: Call of the Crusade

Blizzard has announced that the next major content patch in the works for World of Warcraft is Patch 3.2: Call of the Crusade. Patch 3.2 will expand upon the features of Wrath of the Lich King, and Blizzard lists a few highlights:
- The Argent Tournament expands: With the help of Azeroth's heroes, the Argent Crusade will finish the Argent Coliseum just in time to call for all brave citizens to prepare for battle with the Lich King. New dailies, rewards, and more will be available at the Argent Tournament grounds to lure adventurers into the coliseum.
- Crusader's Coliseum: In order to prepare for a siege on Icecrown Citadel, players will be called by the Argent Crusade to test their mettle in the Coliseum. 5-player, 10-player, and 25-player challenges await inside.
- New Battleground: Isle of Conquest, a new large-scale siege Battleground, will be open. The Horde and Alliance will battle head-to-head for control of strategic resources to lay siege to the keeps of their opponents.
- New Arena Season: Season 7 will officially start, paving the way for all-new items and challenges.
The full details of Call of the Crusade, as they stand right now, can be found in the public test realm patch notes. We'll keep you informed when more details of World of Warcraft's Patch 3.2 are released.

I love the way we go forward agianst the lich king and icecrown citadal. This is a sign that we get closer, and our hard work(quests) have fayed off.

Meh. I canceled my account and it ended as of 5/18. Nothing added to WotLK would draw me back. The next actual expansion might but there will have to be more actual changes to gameplay -- please no more dailies and hour upon hour in LFG.
There are so many fresh MMOs on the horizon!

I canceled my sub like 3 days ago. I enjoyed the expansion at first but for some reason to me the whole northrend just seems dead to me. I think i burned myself out on the game. Time to look else where for a while. I have WAR and LOTR that I can re-sub to might give one of those a try. But honestly I have not enjoyed the argent tournament at all. I don't like vehicular combat. We spend 80 levels learning our class then throw it all out the window to do this other type of combat. I give them credit for trying something new, but Its just not for me. It just seems like so much of the game is revolving around Arena changes. Personally I think the Arena was the worst thing that could have been added to the game. It would have been o.k. if they would have spells act differently based on if it was against a player or a NPC. But I hated that you had to change the way you aproached raids because someone would QQ in the Arena about x class killed me so they must be OP. That and it was annoying to see people bunnyhopping while fighting. It was not like it was helping them to avoid getting hit by spells it was just freaking annoying.

Yeah I kinda agree with you on this. Though not so much so to cancell my sub yet...I still need something to do until CO comes out. And there's a couple of my toons I would like to see at 80 until then.
The bunnyhopping thingy I'm told...is to give the player PvP'ing a slight edge over stuns and snares from their opponents. At least this was what the going theory was that was posted on the General Forums awhile back. Not sure it's true or not.
As for 3.2 announcements...nothing really new or exciting, unless you count the JC nerf - lots of excitement about that, but mostly the negative kind.

A random thought has popped into my head.
One of the main reasons people "leave" WoW and other subscription-based MMOGs is they don't feel they're getting value for money- the monthly cost doesn't add up to the sense of reward they get out of the game.
What about if Blizzard put up a free to play version of the *old* content ? (e.g. a pre-burning crusade, with the Gates of Ahn'Qiraj of being closed etc.) pay a one-time fee to create an account on those servers, no monthly subscription (since you're playing old content, some of which isn't even accessible now). Of course, you wouldn't be able to transfer characters between the old content stuffs and the current content stuffs; but would that bring you back to Azeroth ?

What SignpostMarv Martin said is a good idea. Why not try to feel the dept of free to play model. Create a server for that then let's see if how it goes. It won't gonna hurt Blizzard from trying that idea. Paying monthly subscription base mmo is the reason why most of us Asian countries do not play triple A mmo's. Most gamers here recognize an mmo if its FREE. But if its not, they'll just gonna turn their backs, even if its the ultimate mmo of the century.
I'm fortunate because I played Guild Wars, WoW(short term on retail, long in PS), Lineage II SEA, Warhammer Online(I honestly regret buying it and loading it, one of my mistakes). Now we all know free to play mmo's are gonna get bigger this coming years. Like C9, Dragon Nest, Tera and Blade and Soul if it becomes F2P. I think the industry would change a little bit after the release of those games. I hope they're going for free to play and charge only the appearance additional content but NOT the overall damage output of certain toon.

What I'm suggesting here is total free-to-play, not freemium. e.g. no "cash shop".
The focus would be on paying a one-time fee in order to access a server with *old* content, with a schedule thats probably 2 expansions behind ?
This would mean that whenever the next expansion after wotlk gets released, the f2p servers get switched over to burning crusade.
Do you think Blizzard would get even more customers that way ? Luring people over to the subscription-based servers with the promise of newer content ?

Not sure if that would cut it for me (it may very well work for others); I quit WoW because the community is absolute trash and I had little to no desire to reroll elsewhere.
As for bashing WoW, not sure why some people feel the need to act like that; I played WoW for over 4 years, no other game has lasted this long for me. While I did get sick of it, it's still no small feat.

I agree with all of the above. I bought WotLK, leveled one character to 80, and then quit. I have no urge to ever return to WoW again. It is such a stale MMO.
Some Chinaman could hack my account and steal all the gold and delete all my characters, and I wouldn't care one bit. WoW means nothing now.

I'm a longtime MMO'er (since 1999) - and I have been playing WoW for 4+ years with several breaks. It always amazes me when ppl say "I've been playing XYZ MMO for 2+ years and now I'm bored to death". You think? What MMO won't bore you to tears if you grind away on it for years and years. There isn't a damn MMO out there that does not require repetition of some kind, so throw away the fantasy that some new MMO will come along and shatter that philosophy, that is the core of MMOs. They tried to implement a mainstream MMO without levels, the original SWG was a skilled-based MMO, and it never took off, then have since implemented levels.
So - this is the genre, whether you're grinding from levels 1-50, or 1-200, you will grind, and to accomplish anything in the game will require a massive time commitment. Whatever you do, even if fun at first, will become tedious if you do it for months and months, hell somewhere/someone is tired of screwing Pamela Anderson.....love it or leave it, this is MMOs, now quit complaining about it.

I find an alternating schedule that usually works out to two months on 1 month off keeps me from getting burnt out on WoW.
Pisses off my guildies though.

Honestly, Pre-CU SWG was one of the most fun MMO's I played, just because it was the most unique as far as gameplay and crafting were concerned. It was a little unbalanced if you were a ranged class with a knock down. It went down hill with the CU.
It took off, but it never kept traction because of a lack of content. There's no instances, and no real "raid".

Yeah, I too have been playing WoW since release, with several breaks when I've gotten bored of it. I have to say, though, I'm having more fun now than I have done for quite a while. Raiding Ulduar on my main and levelling a second character through Northrend, Ulduar is a very fun raid instance and Northrend is still fresh enough to enjoy a second time.

I had to cancel too. Biggest reason was waiting forever to find a good group. When I only have a couple hours to play, I want to get in and out fast. Some say you can grind dailies alone, but god - why play an MMO if your just going to solo all the time?
At least with WAR I can usually find a warband within minutes and join a battle. Even if the RvR needs some improvements, I feel that the action is close enough to jump in and out fast.

Nice to see them put in a new battle ground though. The true beauty of RvR areas is that as long as you're online at the right time you're getting a game. I'd sooner be on the wrong end of the occasional zerg that standing around bored, trying to make sure I'm picked by some lunatic who wants everyone to log out and sign up to the raid on his website, even when we are already there and good to go. The politics of raids really are great training for the kind of mentalists you meet at work.
Still not enough to send me back. You can only run up and down the Barrens so many times.
