Blizzard community manager Nethaera has announced some more details of the new battleground coming to World of Warcraft with Patch 3.2, Call of the Crusade. The "Isle of Conquest" will be a new place for Horde and Alliance to face off in forty-vs.-forty PvP across different locations offering their own unique challenges and rewards.
Blizzard has put together a preview site for the Isle of Conquest explaining about the battleground and its objectives and resources that the Horde and Alliance will struggle over. Each location will have a certain advantage, ranging from Glaive Throwers and Catapults to an airship that allows players to parachute into the enemy keep. Since I can't abide PvP, this new battleground is kind of "meh" for me.
I'm much more pumped about the new druid animal forms coming in the same patch. :-)
I am still hoping that Blizzard will "wake up and smell the coffee" some patch soon and retool the original (Deadmines to Dire Maul) instances for solo players somehow....

don't hold your breath..this is the only thing so far they have not gone back on their word about..
As stated before, they will not make instances for the solo player as they want players to work together in their game...
Come to Lotro...we have end game solo instances with more on the way.

You may be right, Poxus, but WoW did a lot to make to lower-level content more accessible to new players (changing elite areas and bosses to nonelite so they can now be soloed). The original regions (i.e., "old Azeroth") are all but vacant of players. Trying to form groups for instances in Kalimdor and the Eastern Kingdoms is all but impossible nowadays.
Thus, Blizzard's "encouraging" players to form groups for these instances by keeping them as "player group only" in fact translates into players just not going into them, which is a shame, imo.
The same holds true for LotRO, though it is marginally better than WoW in some ways in this regard.
The game that "fixes" this problem first is probably where I'll end up.

So, is this like Blizzard's counter to the Lands of The Dead?

Another battleground that's just a mash-up of existing BGs, with those stupid vehicles added on top?
Ok...
Are they even trying anymore?

Vehicle pvp didnt ruin your game. The french taking over 5 years ago did, not that i have anything against the french generally, they just cant manage and create anything decent in MMO's. Remember most drugs are against the law but still wildly popular.

I know you're playing the "popular doesn't equal good" card, but seriously, you DO realize that you sound fairly ridiculous saying they "just cant manage and create anything decent in MMO's" when they have produced the most popular, successful and profitable MMO in the history of the genre? Don't you?

I'm not going to lie but this sounds pretty awesome. The only problem I'm seeing is that within 6-8 months after it's release they will nerf it so much it'll just be like another AV.
AV was pretty epic when it was released but now it's just a broken and boring pve race.
