Changes to instances and raids in LotRO's upcoming Book 8
Filed under: Fantasy, Lord of the Rings Online, Game mechanics, Patches
In a recent dev journal from Turbine's Jared "Amlug" Hall-Dugas, we get an inside look at some of the new changes to raiding and instances coming with Lord of the Rings Online's Book 8. As we first announced late last month through our Book 8 dev tour, these new instances are quite the focus in this newest content patch.
This dev journal goes into a bit more depth from the technical side of what we can expect from the new instances, changes to existing instances and the changes to item drops in instances and raids. Amlug also explains the drop rate changes for First Age weapons per Watcher run, and the increased availability of Radiance gear for those runs. You can check out the complete journal over at Amlug's mylotro.com page, and keep an eye on Massively as we get closer to Book 8's release, later this month.

I really wish they would make a crap load more of the crafting item recipes for armor, shields etc or make more set armors. You are practically forced to wear the one and only set of rad gear, which you must farm until you are blue in the face. That's if you expect to survive any raid or hard mode instance in moria.
Still not much for itemization in Lotro for any end game at all..

That and the Character Models and Gear look really cheesy! Maybe they are Holding back before releasing a model revamp? /cross fingers

You should read these Dev releases more.
Crafters want to craft Legendaries...check
Crafters want to be able to craft Rad gear...check
Making Rad runs a little easier and less tedious..read the article above...check
Lotro really is the PvE MMO for those that love the PvE aspect of the MMO's out there in my opinion.
PvP isn't so bad either (yes not a true PvP game) and can actually be kind of fune with the competitive sides that play on all the servers.

Crafters may want to craft 2nd age Leg Weapons, but we won't be allowed to
Crafters may want to craft Radiance, or heck even Radiance like armour, but we won't be allowed to.
The only thing the Dev notes said were "Yeah we know, but nope"
Then they gave us more of the same tripe in their attempt to steal WoW subscribers.
LoTRO *was* a game where you could get away from gear gated raids, rude people and the chase of the epeen... not any more tho, and they are not good. Rather than do something well they now do something else real bad.

You can't fault any mmo that actually goes back and fine tunes early game content, as this patch does I believe.
One of the most promising looking updates for any game I've played in a long time.

Ya I've never seen a game do that. I'm glad Turbine sees the importance, not only does it revise it to fit the games current state, and make it a more fluid experience for new players, it also adds to the replay value of the game, making new characters. In the next book update they will be hitting mid-level content 30-45
