Fans of NDOORS Interactive's Luminary: Rise of GoonZu may be happy to hear that today the free-to-play MMO has introduced a new wedding system to the game. This system will allow a happy couple to get hitched in-game complete with ceremony, proper wedding attire and an announcement throughout the game.
Since Luminary is more of a political MMO, players can either marry for love or for political alliances. Married couples can earn Affection Points, which can reap additional benefits to status effects in game. Plus, on your wedding anniversary (12 days game-time), the new lovebirds will receive a special gift. Check out the complete press release after the jump.

Marry for Love or Power with new Wedding System
EL SEGUNDO, Calif. – June 17, 2009 – NDOORS Interactive today announced the debut of a new social feature in their acclaimed MMORPG Luminary: Rise of the GoonZu. Starting today, players will have the ability to get married in the game. The new wedding system will allow two willing parties to tie the virtual knot and have their union officially recognized in-game. A marriage in Luminary will bestow benefits upon the couple, as some will marry for love and others will marry for political alliances.
In order to wed in Luminary, players can simply travel to the church west of Trania, where at least one party has to make their marriage proposal. Both boy and girl characters must obtain a Marriage License and be unmarried for the proposal to be executed. Once these conditions are met, the two parties will agree on a date and time for their wedding.
On the day of their wedding, the newlyweds will be teleported inside of the church where the ceremony will be carried out by the Wedding NPC. The bride and groom will receive a temporary gown and tuxedo, with a Flower Crown for the bride. Several questions will be asked of the couple by the Wedding NPC, and the bride and groom may answer freely. While the wedding ceremony takes place, news of the nuptials will be scrolled across the bottom of the game.
The wedding is just the beginning of married life and it will take effort from the bride and groom to maintain a happy union. Purchasing a Pink Rose from Clara will award the married couple with Affection Points, which in turn will bestow an added bonus to status effects. After a couple has been successfully married for 1 year (12 days game-time), they can celebrate their anniversary and the couple will receive a gift.
Luminary is a free-to-play MMORPG that incorporates real-world politics and economics. Players are citizens of the Luminary world who not only battle monsters, but engage in the production of new goods, trade commodities, stocks, and real estate, and even hire NPCs. Additionally, a player can advance to the pinnacle of success, the GoonZu, by being elected by his gaming peers.

Oh my.. :-o
I don't like to nit-pick about such things just for the heck of it; couldn't you have used a different picture Shawn?

Definitely a bit tacky on the photograph choice, all things considered.

I agree, of all the photos of weddings out there you used this?
Tacky.

I'll agree, a Diana picture may not be suitable considering the context.

Ignoring the Diana picture for a moment... (I laughed, but it was the sort of laugh that makes you feel guilty when you have to explain to the co-worker sitting next to you quite why you laughed... especially when he doesn't find it funny)
Is this what Massively is reduced to? Seriously? Regurgitating press releases from a pretty much unknown MMO? You didn't even try to hide it, there's no analysis, no 'I'm looking forward to this', nothing!
Massively is supposed to be a blog first, and a news site second. Feature opinions, guides, all that good stuff - the stuff we actually come here for. Have a few posts up about announcements - almost like this. Just don't act like the press wing of any random PR company that sends you an email.
Jeez, if you're this bad for Luminary, I dread to see what you'll be like once EA goes full tilt on APB...

hmm,
- Tasteless photo edit that is certainly guaranteed to get clicks: check
- Controversial allegation accusing well liked public figure of something scandalous: check
- Complete Copy & Paste press-release from totally unknown company: check
...
Are you guys selling your article space now as well? Or was that just combination of very bad taste and a very slow news day? C'mon, you could have at least tried to get some editorial into it..

Oh who cares? Just leave the picture up. One less parasite for my taxes to support.

Ya thats picture I want in my mind when I am trolling for mmo games....a bloody, pulpy mess of a body in a crushed tin can.

Seriously, what's the fuss?
I'm a brit and don't really find this offensive and I can remember the events as clear as if it were yesterday!
Seriously you lot are just jumping on this post for no reason, this photo doesn't make you think of the accident it makes you think of her wedding!
You lot are clearly just making this about her death when it's not been mentioned once.
If you ask me you lot are the freaks not the author.
If you want to go back to MMORPG then GO.

I wouldn't expect a brit to sympathize at all. You people have the worst press in the world. Probably the most jaded, heartless audience out there.
specialjohn said on 12:53PM 6-17-2009
'You People" Racist much?
Clarify how we have the worst press in the world?
FYI I was heartbroken when it happened so get stuffed! Like I SAID i can remember the day as clear as a bell , but this post or picture has NOTHING to do with that accident you jerk off
How about we get back on track with this, anyone actually want to comment on the article and the press release rather than picking up on a harmless picture
