NCsoft reveals European Aion preorder plans

Heads up European Aion fans because NCsoft have just announced their pre-order plans for the game. From today you'll be able to pre-order the either the standard steelbook or special collector's edition (limited to 15,000 copies in Europe and Australia) of the game via selected outlets. Trust me, you really want to do this because you'll get special bonus in-game items and the ability to reserve your character name along with early-access to the servers.
The pre-order will be especially relevant to those of you not yet in the beta (the next stage of which starts this weekend). Pre-ordering will get you a key which will allow you access to all the upcoming beta tests. You will also get access to stat-boosting items including the Lodas' Amulet, the Black Cloud Hat and one of four Ancient Rings of Power as well as being able to play the game two days before the rest of the world. Actually I think that alone makes Aion worth pre-ordering but whatever you do, don't forget to stay tuned to Massively this weekend when we'll be posting a first look at the Asmodian leg of the beta.

Pre-ordering is kind of like buying tickets for a cruise on a ship that hasn't been built. I'd prefer to see it float first.

ummmm, you can cancel the pre-order you know? That logic is flawed.

Never ever pre order a MMO! Wait one or two weeks to see of it run stable on the server and wait till the first bugs getting fix. You will have a much better xp!!!

Like Mythic did with Warhammer, NCSoft is to a large extent limiting access to an early preview of the game to those who have already committed to buying it. To those like myself who are mildly interested and might decide to purchase the game if given such access, these sorts of marketing schemes are frustrating. I'd like to find out if Aion is the next MMO for me, but I won't pay for that privilege even if I can just as easily cancel a pre-order and get my money back.

Well then u r screwed, no one is forcing u to buy anything. I love how u guys take a hard line on the silly stuff yet stuff your face with fast-food, inhale cigarettes and booze while falling prey to the marketing of those companies. But video game marketing is considered unacceptable. Don't buy it, just read the previews online and/or wait.

You do know there is probably contests that will run to get into the "preview" right? And 5 bucks isn't exactly a commitment either. The NDA has dropped for the game, so people can talk all they want about it.
Besides, nothing stopping you from just canceling your pre-order if you don't like the game.

I'll correct myself real quick, NCSoft West dropped the NDA, not sure if that applies to Europe, but it isn't hard to find a site with Euro and NA players are on, so... eh.

Methinks Leshrac should get back under the bridge.

Maybe most of you dont know but Aion has been tested for years and is totally bug-free. The amazing graphics of the game might let u think that the servers are laggy and that the creators have thought only about the visual details of the game but if u have tried the Beta or even watched a gameplay video of the game you would soon find out that is not true and that there is no such thing as "lag" or "bug", no matter how populated the server is.
