Largest Wizard101 expansion launches today, introduces crafting system

The kid-centric MMO Wizard101 from KingsIsle Entertainment seems to be doing quite well for itself, having already gained millions of unique users since its launch last September. Wizard101 has gotten a steady stream of updates as well. In fact, today marks the game's largest expansion release to date, adding a new land called Grizzleheim with a Norse theme, and a Bazaar in Olde Town where players can buy and sell their wares.
Perhaps the biggest addition to Wizard101 with today's expansion is a crafting system which will bring new gear into the game that spans the various schools of magic. Wizard101 players will be able to craft hundreds of items ranging from clothing to Treasure Cards. In addition to using crafting tables in their houses and dorm rooms, players can progress through five tiers of crafting advancement.

I love this update so far. The crafting system really adds an entire new dimension to the game, allowing for more customization of gear and furniture and decoration for houses. Grizzleheim itself is a beautiful world, and is laid out more like a zone in WoW then the previous worlds in W101. It is more vast and has more wide open areas as opposed to the "streets" that we typically wonder around in the other worlds. It does have a sense of exploration to it.
One of the best things about Grizzleheim is that it is a side-world. It allows you to vary up your game-play experience as you go through Wizard City, Krokotopia, Marleybone, MooShu, and finally Dragonspyre.
The addition of groups makes playing with friends a lot easier, because you now have a chat channel when you make a group and therefore an easier way to keep track of everyone.
Lastly, with the addition of the 18+ chat system, us adults can now talk to each other without the dictionary filter. The only words filtered are profanity, which allows for easier communication between adults.
All in all, I love the direction that this patch is taking the game, and I plan to be playing more often now.
