One Shots: Lovely lakeside at night
Filed under: Fantasy, Screenshots, Lord of the Rings Online, One Shots

With summer's long days tumbling slowly into dark, hot nights, there are gorgeous night skies to behold. Of course, if you're in an area like many of the Massively staff are where it is just entirely too hot to go mucking about at night, the gorgeous skies of online worlds like Lord of the Rings Online are always a great place to spend time. Today's placid evening shot comes to us from Arday from the Vilya server. Arday writes in to describe the scene: This shot was taken just after Book 7 was released in Lord of the Rings Online. I was looking across the river Anduin as I was exploring Lothlorien for the first time. All I could think of when I took this shot was what an amazingly beautiful world Turbine has created while staying true to the source material, it brought a tear to the eye of this Tolkien fan.
We're going to avoid making the obvious "what have you been doing on your summer vacation" reference, but the invitation is all the same. If you've got some screenshots of your travels, we'd love to see them. Just send them to us here at oneshots AT massively.com along with a brief description and your name.

I will agree with Ayane. The water effect is fairly impressive. Must be DX10

Oh ya the water in the game is so calming and serene....sometime s I just sit my characters down by a lake and gaze over to the sunset....
I play it on DX9 and it's still amazing. ^_^

Just because you don't like it doesn't mean everyone has to hate it.
I actually like it in Lothlorien as it brings the mystical to the world of the elves that live there.

Glow effects are really emphasized in Lothlorien, way more so than the rest of the game. Lorien is supposed to have that Elven, otherwordly feel to it. The whole game isn't like that.
And as for the topic at hand, stunning screenshot!!!!

The Anduin is a river, not a lake. =) /lore-nerd

I camp my 60 CPT here sometimes at the banks of the Anduin, in the hopes that someday we'll be able to break out of Moria / Lothlorien and see much more of Rhovanion (Mirkwood, Dol Guldur, Dale and the Lonely Mountain, and not to mention all the lands further east and south, such as the more famous ones, Fangorn, Isengard, Rohan, Gondor, etc.)!
And when you see it in-game across that vast river, there's just a feeling that something really sinister awaits us to the east!
Great screenshot
