Indeed, it was the first thing shown when the game was officially announced and they have added atleast 1 video every day since that day that features nothing but creating characters/vehicles. Getting a little annoyed.

Well, I do care about character creation to an extent. But I'll agree that they are flaunting it a bit much. While it's very impressive, I get the idea. Move on to some actual game play or something.

I'm actually quite interested in the character customization and I rather enjoy drooling over it like a teenage girl playing dress-up. I'm sorry that grinds your gears so very much.

Give them some time. They haven't shown much or any gameplay yet because they (presumably) haven't gotten it to a presentable place, by their standards. That's, you know, SOP for game development. And since the rumblings are that this is going to be a very different game than what people are used to, I would say that waiting until there is solid information to give to the community - information that clearly presents what the game will be like at release - is extremely prudent when you might potentially be breaking some new ground. Don't want misunderstanding to color perception and expectation. That can lead to disaster.

At any rate, the point is it's intensely blowhardy to get your panties in a wad over a developer not showing you any gameplay footage when the game is still nearly a year from release. Just relax. It'll be okay.

I feel exactly as you do regarding APB. It's too bad, too, since APB looks, as a more "regular" (gasp!) type MMO, something I might have actually wanted to play (as a copper, natch -- not a crook). :-)

Your way to full of yourself. You act like it's their obligation to release any information on the game at all. They are under no obligation to do anything of the sort. But they do it anyway. You should be happy with what you get. It's awesome that they give us weekly (give or take) updates on the game. Most companies won't even give you a monthly update. You should be happy your getting video games at all, it could be a much worse world.

Designing a character or a car can be a hell of a lot of fun if the tools are extensive enough. Look at the Sim City games, your designing entire cities; it's grossly popular. You consider that a Virtual Doll House?

How is me giving my opinion on the marketing tactics of video game developers equate to me being full of myself? I am happy that you are satisfied by the deliberate trickle of screen shots and the random video of character creation that most games let out, but I come to gaming websites for something substantive.

To answer your question, sim games are exactly what I would consider to be a virtual doll house, I honestly don't know where you're going with that. I'm not knocking them either. However, last time I checked this was a MMO website.

Your knocking people for enjoying character customization is where I was going with it. And even going so far as to say that it's not even game play. Perhaps your rant went on to long? Maybe you don't actually have a problem with the character customization or "virtual dollies", and your just peeved about not getting new information, and just being fed the same information for 3 updates in a row?

Your whole delivery with the attitude of, "Game companies owe me game updates, and they'll be damned if I don't like it!", made you look a bit full of yourself. Again they have no obligation to give us any information at all, though that would certainly hurt their sales in the long run.

I'm never really satisfied with the information I get for an upcoming game, I always want more. But I'm happy I get anything at all. A lot of companies tend to leave you hanging for weeks, months, and occasionally years at a time.

I agree it's annoying to see them talk about character customization for 3 videos in a row. And this one wasn't even an update, it was just filler BS. But they are at least giving us SOMETHING. And that counts in my book.

In fact I would prefer that they wait until they actually have something worth a shit to show us instead of giving us recycled crap that has nothing to do with how the game will actually play. This goes for all developers and not just realtime.

Personally I could care less about character creation because frankly like I said games are made fun by their game play, aesthetics are secondary. Creating some tattooed out avatar isn't game play. It's 10 minutes at most that I spend to get to the game play.

Some people spend more than 10 minutes. If I recall correctly, I believe you can even sell the tats and whatnot. What you call aesthetics is part of the game play. It's not what you say directly, it's what you say indirectly, and how you say it. Your right, you never came right out and said, "They owe me better information.", but it's certainly the way you come across.

But ugh, this debate is getting tiresome. We both agree that this video was a waste of our time.

It would be apart of the game play if it were a SIM game, which it's not.

Even if you can sell tats, that's a sub-sect of a crafting system at best. It's certainly not why people would -want- to play this game or what would drive them to do so.

Nonetheless, I agree. It's sad that this debate was more substantive then their essentially recycled information.

I honestly don't think they will complete this game, the graphics are to high to have been a well thought out idea. It's just a hopeful not a realistic, eventually this will be vaporware. Like so many before it.

MMO = Massively Multiplayer Online.

The game will be Massively Multiplayer and it will be online. Diablo, while online, is not massively multiplayer, just multiplayer.

The only other way you might be differing in your opinion on it being an MMO is that you don't "level up" or "grind quests for hours." These I see as good things, and as for your graphics issue, I imagine that people will be able to play this game when it comes out in 1Q 2010, or whenever they push the date back to.

At this point i'm a little more interested in Global Agenda, but I think both games will play similarly.
