Fallen Earth moves into open beta on August 17th

Yes, that's right, the apocalypse opens up its doors to all on August 17th. If you're really eager for the apocalypse, however, then we suggest you hurry on over to Fileplanet and sign up for an account, as they're going to be the ones handing out access to Fallen Earth. Fileplanet will be making the Fallen Earth beta accessible for download on Friday, August 14th, for all of you who want to get that download rolling early.

If you're really excited for Fallen Earth's launch on September 9th, then you can also hop over to Direct2Drive and grab yourself a pre-order of the game. Pre-orders not only get guaranteed access to the beta, but they also get the exclusive in-game mount, the Wasteland Runner. The special mount has four more points of defensive skills, 2500 extra stamina, and six more pack slots over other horses.

Even more importantly, pre-order customers will be getting a five day head start in the game. Yes, that's right, five days! This means the pre-order customers will be jumping into the game on September 4th, while everyone else will get to experience the Grand Canyon on the 9th.

I was hyped about this game until the lack of TRUE updates came along. Not enough gameplay details, not enough information on content. The website stayed the same for way too long. Literally all the info we got about tradeskills is "we'll have them" and all we know about combat is "its there"

I'll try it out, but with a very pessimistic attitude

I hope he talks about it. I'm not signing up for a FilePlanet subscription to get into the Open beta. And the Open Beta is happening at the same time as Champions Online. And next week will be BlizzCon. So let's see if either Fallen Earth or ChampionsOnline can get any news out.

It feels sloppy at first but it all comes together if you stick with it for atleast 7-8 hours. I will be playing it without a doubt . It is a little rough around the edges but not enough to break the fun ive been having.

Still that is unacceptable in today's climate. You can't release a game, much less a MMORPG that you expect people to pay a monthly subscription for, that gives a bad first impression, particularly to a casual audience who might not have the patience for obtuse controls and poor graphics. I hope the developers can make the best of it and I wish them the best. However, I have limited time to devote to games and I am not going to spend it trying to uncover the captivating game hiding behind the veneer of a poorly executed game.

Can't get over the horrible graphics and animations myself. For me mmorpgs are about exploration and why would you wanna explore such and ugly looking game? Why would I care about my character when the models are just so bad? It can have the most amazing features in the world but if I don't like the look of the graphics then I just can't like it.

They woulda been better going with a generic Sci-Fi setting like Aliens or something if they couldn't hire good artists.

The art is pretty good, its just another genre for people who prefer apocalyptic scenario more than Sci-Fi like Aliens.
Many people that love fallen earth can probably say the exact same thing about sci-fi games, for instance... "why fight to earn money in that sci-fi game if the first armor is already big and awesome-looking"..or whatever..

Well..i'm not one of those people, I kinda like both... Fallen Earth's art is sweet, reminds me of Fallout...

Its just not that good. Great idea, poorly implemented. Graphics aren't the be all and end all, but nobody plans to go home with the fat ugly girl and Fallen Earth is the fat ugly girl at the bar.....with weeping pus sores......

With a halfway decent graphics engine it could have been good, not the circa 2000 period look and feel.

So here I was, Im thinking alright its a little rough but I can work with it.... Then I jumped and that jump was enough to break the camels back.... now see this wasn't any ordinary jump..... This Jump rooted me to the ground for a full Second, I was like what is this lag so I jumped again... And again rooted to the ground for a second. Now Im thinking to myself what kind of piece of garbage physics roots you to the ground after every jump..... the only two words that popped into my head were EPIC FAIL... hahahahaha

I really hated the games jump as well. Sadly the beta testing community seems to love it as they reassured me that it was realistic in nature. Right, total realism right there...

The game sounds like a great idea but it really needs a lot more polish.

The jump, particularly its pause upon landing, is a means to prevent abuse in PvP. I'm not sure what beta you were playing where the playerbase said it was realistic, but I've seen plenty of jump complaints, and the response is never "it's realistic." FE's beta community generally accepts the "it prevents bunny-hopping" as the reason.

well that doesn't say much about the intelligence of FEs Beta base because thats retarded I could deal with a delay before the next jump but not a str8 up stop while running after jumping. Oh btw does Halo prevent bunny hopping? what about CSS what about DoD what about crimecraft.... That jump feature is a hideous scar on the face of that game and I quit playing after 2 hours solely for that reason, nobody wants a clunky avatar in a first person shooter, they have got to be kidding themselves if they think that game is going to get and hold people....
