Fallen Earth launch date delayed to Sept 22

Fans looking forward to the release date of post-apocalyptic MMO Fallen Earth are going to have to wait a bit longer. The game was originally slated for a Sept. 9th launch that creeped up to Sept. 15th. Now Fallen Earth LLC has announced the title's launch has been delayed again to September 22nd.
Fallen Earth Product Manager Jessica Orr addressed the delay and stated, "Our main focus is to make sure that Fallen Earth is easily accessible to as many fans as possible. We are working on initiatives that are near fruition and we simply need more time." Fallen Earth LLC added that pre-order customers will still get early access to the game on September 9th.

Most would say Delayed not pushed forward sounds to good.

Yeah, in this sense saying "pushed forward" makes no sense. You say pushed back or delayed. Pushed forward leads the reader to think it is coming sooner than previously expected, not later.

Pretty sure the audience for Aion and the audience for Fallen Earth have only the barest overlap.

Essentially what they're doing is waiting an extra week before they begin charging people money to play to ensure that when they do the game will be worthy. Those who are willing to make the investment in advance get that extra time free.
Wouldn't it be nice if all video game makers took the same attitude about their products?

I'd rather video game makers take an attitude not to release things prematurely, which is what is happening to Fallen Earth.
The game is still BETA, and needs another 3 solid months before it should have been released.
As it stands now this is just another paid beta sub rush.. I mean retail release by a dev company that has run low on funds.

This is concerning but it won't really effect the preorder folks who are ready to jump back in. The consensus is that they are just trying to iron out a couple of last wrinkles they wanted in before launch (shrugs).

What's the point? If you are letting the pre-order people in, the need for delaying it can't be too vital. Unless you think your servers can't handle the modest amount of people you'll get at launch beyond them. If it were a wrinkle that affected gameplay in any significant way your pre-order folks would be hampered by it.
Plus, it's not always good to give a part of the game's population a head start over the rest. Catch-up is bad enough already that players have to do it from street release date.

Well maybe if they had actually had a proper Beta testing phase instead of trying to make an income from selling that Beta on File Planet they might not be in this predicament.
Thing is when you make people pay for Beta, they are far less likely to actually do any beta testing.....why should they, they paid for the experience of playing the game early, not to be the tool for a games company in a testing phase.
I quite like this, it now means that FE conflicts with Aion which will most certainly impact on their release 'thunder' and it means that the niche market they were trying to hit will be even less then expected.
Which means in the long run a game that sold their Beta won't do as well as other games in the same genre have done.
Maybe that will be a lesson to other games companies in the future, that we as a gaming community are not impressed with fee-paying Beta phases and are turned off by games that take that route.

If only it could be "pushed forward" into 2003, then maybe it wouldn't seem like a horribly dated, clunky and unfocused mess of a game.

Have you played the game? Sure there are some bugs in FE still to be squashed (name me a game that didn't have at least a few on release), but personally I've found the bugs that I've encountered in FE rarely if ever directly impact the gameplay.
I spent a month in that beta and in my opinion, it's ready to go. The real question will be how many agree with me. I spent a year in Eve (which had already been live for a few years at that point) and I remember that they were still regularly issuing bug fixes even when I left.
The real issue isn't whether Fallen is perfect. If you're looking for a flawless MMO, especially at release, good luck. The real issue is whether the game is playable and fun to play. When scoring on that basis, IMHO Fallen Earth is a big winner.

It's to bad really. The game is not that bad. I mean there is huge potential but they did not smooth it out enough..
I think its going end up being like Vanguard you know the way to soon part. And then 6 months to 12 months down the road it will be an amazing game but again it will also be to late..
Bad time in the MMO Market since if you don't suck and catch people in strong your screwed with the massive amounts of MMO's Coming in 2010.

I wish this game had the look and feel, as well as speed of play/combat, as Champions Online. I was in the CO desert starting area and kept thinking how much better Fallen Earth would look and play if it wasn't using such a clunky engine. The engine feels outdated -- reminds me of Neocron's engine back from 2001-2002.
