Latest lore update for The Old Republic chronicles shadowy Imperial spies
Filed under: Sci-fi, Lore, New titles, Star Wars: The Old Republic

A few of us on the Massively team are fans of the Lance Henriksen-narrated lore updates for Star Wars: The Old Republic that explain the MMO's timeline in video. The guy was Bishop, after all! So far these videos have given us a good idea of the game's backstory and have dropped some clues as to what we may see in the title. One of the more recent episodes was Return of the Mandalorians which focused on the independent warrior nomads who rose to challenge even the Jedi. While they aren't evil, war is their way of life and they thirst for conquest. According to the latest timeline update, "The Empire Changes Strategy", the Mandalorians had some help along the way from the Imperial spies who orchestrated their ascent to power.
Henriksen narrates a tale of Imperial intelligence operatives pulling strings from the shadows for their Sith masters, and of the rise and fall of Mandalore himself. We think this continuation of the Star Wars: The Old Republic story is worth a look, and you can find it on the game's official site.

The sound quality of that latest video was terrible. Not what I've come to expect from Bioware.

The sound was fine your net connection or sound system must be flawed. As the video ran fine with no problems with the sound.

Just came from PAX and the SWKOTR demo and have to say I am impressed. They had people playing the game live on stage and the video was fed to 4 large screens.
Was a wait from 1:30 to 3:30pm in line with several thousand others but it was worth it. Game game animation moves well live, the the videos posted of gameplay are deadon to how it is live.
The Bounty Hunter play thru first quest dialog and walk around Hutta with female character showing that each gender is fully voiced. Also played Sith and Smuggler classes thru the sections on the videos but choosing different options.
Coruscant was announced and shown as a planet with never before seen footage,
KOTOR was announced for steam and everyone present got a coupon for a free copy.
They also took everyones name/age/email address.
Much better then the Warhammer presentation last year, I have nothing but positive feelings about SWKOTR after today.

Sith Imperial Spy? another class? Equivilant to the Smuggler? I already think we'll see Mandolorian Warrior as the equvilant to the Trooper. I kept trying to think what could match up w/ the smuggler, and from the cinimatic and the two-handed Twilek that was in it + this, I think Sith Spy is another class.
Man, I'm excited for this game.

Spies.... alleys..... planet cities.
and most of all... choices and(hopefully solid) CONSEQUENCES
Can it get any better than this?

That's all well and good criticism of his point of view, if SWTOR was going to be SINGLE PLAYER GAME. Since there will be competition with other players in a persistent world class balance has to be addressed.

Wow... you're an idiot, huh?
If you think for a second that any successful MMO can be created WITHOUT class balance in mind, you're a simplistic and moronic douchebag.
But keep dreaming. You're wonderous world of lonely RP play awaits you in your fantasies. Those of us in the real world that understand the deeper level of these games will keep hypothisising on what types of classes and balances will actual be in the game. B/c they will. No matter how stupid and idealistic you want to be.
Grow the hell up.

The post that this is in ref too, and the following post by me were deleted. I assume by Mass Staff. Just don't want anyone to think I'm replying to them. The dumbass I was replying to was removed.

Yes, with such cunning and descriptive bigotry, you're the heir apparent of maturity.
Do us all a favor? Kill any children you have or don't reproduce, and then off yourself. The world will be a better place.

Methinks that the Bounty Hunter equivalent is the Smuggler and that the Trooper equivalent will be something as mentioned above.
As the first force using class was deemed "Sith Warrior", it seems that there will be another force using class for the Empire and thus two corresponding force classes for the Republic. This concept seems to follow established lore that there are, indeed, various classes/types of Jedi and Dark Jedi/Sith. Here's my source:
