Join us in-game Tuesday for the launch of Aion and Fallen Earth
Filed under: Fantasy, Sci-fi, Aion, Fallen Earth, Contests, Events, in-game, Launches, Grouping, Massively Event Coverage, Giveaways
We did it in Champions Online, and now we're ready to do it in both Fallen Earth and Aion. In-game launch day events have been quite a hit so far, and we really look forward to a double-header coming this Tuesday, September 22nd.
Whether you're looking to get into one or both, we'll be in-game right along with you for those first few levels. Plus, we'll come bearing gifts! In Aion, we'll have some in-game goodies to hand out, and in Fallen Earth we're looking to do a bit of post-apocalyptic trivia to prepare you for the wasteland. We'll have more details on Monday, including exact locations and times for these events. See ya there!

Based on what I'm seeing in the pre-select it may not necessarily be easy to get everyone who wants to participate onto the correct server and faction, as they seem to be balancing. Generally a good thing, just a bit inconvenient in this case.
I'll toss out my recommendation for Elyos side on Lumiel since they seem to be a little anemic in the pompous, self-righteous trust fund kiddie faction. Also, because I've already rolled there.
And doesn't that sound like much more fun to roleplay?
/flounce!

And of course I was referring to Aion. Though FE looks like it shaped up nicely, Aion itself may be a bridge too far where my MMO/gaming time is concerned.

Elyos on Triniel need some help too. Not that I'm complaining too much as an Elyos character there - more black winged devils for me to impale with my polearm. ~.^
I guess there's more Emodians all around, at least as far as people jumping the gun with preorders. Have a feeling we'll be seeing more casuals on Elyos side. Which is another advantage! Lull the asmos into a false sense of security thinking we'll be an easy target! :D

This is what makes me a bit worried.
I've allways used to play on the "badish" side in mmo's with factions so far because I know there are a higher number of hardcore players rolling there. Especially in Europe.
But this time I feel like rolling Elyos, but I hate to be on the casual side, even though I will probably be a casual player myself this time around...
Its funny, yet annoying how that is :/

Seems a lot of people are rolling Asmo, which is funny to me; I'd very much worry about being stuck on the same side as all those emo kids who want to play that race only for their evil-ish looks (given that classes are exactly the same on both sides).
Most of these kids will run back to WoW crying anyway, Asmo populations will stabilize after the first month.

So what are the bets on Fallen earth verse Aion? A few folks over at MMorpg are speculating the sales Aion had wont equal to even half the number of subs retained.
And a huge number of folks are real iffy on Fallen Earth, I have seen it, its pretty bad, the devs have done a horrible job, and to launch against AIon? Suicide.

Aion by several orders of magnitude for success and playerbase size. Fallen Earth by several orders of magnitude for fun and soul.

Fallen Earth has an interesting premise, but the 1998-like graphics and undeveloped gameplay will hurt them big time.

It will be interesting to see how the dust settles in about 6 months time.

Fallen Earth will perhaps be a niche title. I suppose I gave it a few glances, but they've failed misserably at attracting my enthusiasm with that title.
Then again, I also never liked games such as Halflife, so its hard for me to judge what will be a hit or not, but my gut tells me NO!

Thankfully Fallen Earth is absolutely nothing like the Half-Life series.

The information in that link is subject to change, but as of right now Aion's servers are either "full" or accepting only Elyos.
Wow. Never underestimate the popularity of the "bad guy", eh?

I'll be in Fallen Earth on the 22nd, where I'll be playing a game that's A) actually a real beginning to the game, not a year-old Asian revamp, B) isn't a derivative WoW, LotRO, and EQ rehash, and most importantly C) offers me a game that's truly something new and innovative.
So, you Aion folks can all have a good time replaying those same old, tired, and boring medieval-themed "epic" sagas. Those of us in FE will be too busy breaking new ground and participating in something that's actually fresh and new instead.

A game that looks and plays like something out of 2003 is "fresh" and "new"?
beckygrrl said on 1:05AM 9-19-2009
I don't think it looks like 2003 graphics, but then I have a new PC and run FE on the highest graphics settings. No, it doesn't have glossy, shiny towers and elaborate magic-casting effects because that's not the kind of game it is. It does what it does very well, it just doesn't follow the same worn-out path so many other MMOs have.

I'm sorry, when did this become a dick-waving contest? Does liking one really need to translate into disliking the other?

Have fun picking through garbage and filling your backpack with trash all day. Fallen Earth is nothing more than an MMO for people who have always been curious about the Refuse Removal business.

You know I have nothing against either game I betaed both but what are they thinking over at FE launching at the same time as Aion?
They are gonna get run over when Aion completely steals any thunder they might have a shot at.
Bad, bad marketing / business decision. They should wait a month or so until the Aion hysteria tempers down a bit.
