NIDA Online wants you to bathe in numbers

If you're the type of person who loves watching big numbers tick up on the screen, then boy do we have the game for you. It's called NIDA Online, and it's for those of us who feel better after seeing gigantic numbers tick up on the screen.

We'll be honest. We're not exactly sure what's going on in this game. There's mages, summoners, and knights, but then there's also pictures of people in power armor in addition to medieval armor. We're really confused. It's also billing itself as an action MMORPG, which we can only assume means fast paced combat.

What we're not confused about, however, is the open beta start date. The game is opening their doors tomorrow, so anyone interested can jump into the open beta and give the game a whirl.

If you want a better look at what you're getting into, however, we've embedded one of the number spamming videos into this post after the break. The quality isn't very good, but the numbers Duke, the numbers!

it's obvious; the characters are killing monsters while the #s represent the unrecoverable funds they've sunk into the game.

Half the WoW playerbase should go nuts over this.

Every time I see a comment on the WoW boards of 'I don't want challenge or strategy or crowd control, I just want to see huge numbers flashing up on the screen, that's fun!" I just want to shoot myself right there.

Now I finally have somewhere I can tell these idiots to go.

Yeah, compared to any other MMO player your's is huge but how does it compare to other size queens playing the same game? Are you the biggest in that change room as well?

That video is a joke, maybe no one told them about high def uploads, more likely they just don't give a crap because they know what a lemon they've made.

I'm not particularly interested in this game, but I took a look at their website once, so I can explain a bit about the story for all of you:

The 3 main groups are the Mages, Knights, and Summoners. They are actually distinct nations, though those nations names are no where to be found(at least that I could find), and the classes are more along the lines of their elite units. Sort of like in wow, how one may be a Hunter, but no one plays as Crossbowman or Bow User despite what the peons in Warcraft games are called.

Anyway, some time in their worlds past(fairly recently, like last 20 years, or so), the highest ranking Mage, who held a position similar to the Pope in our world, declared that he had come to the conclusion the Mages are the most spiritual of the 3, and should be revered as nobles by everyone else. This of course did no go over well with the other two.

Eventually, the tensions arose in to a war, as they often do. Given that the peace held by the three was due in part to the equal strength of all sides(which helped maintain the worlds natural balance, by the way), it was obvious that the Knights and Summoners teaming up would eventually lead to the mages defeat. As the Mage leader became aware that his side was about to lose, he took one last measure to try and prove himself: Summoning Demons. Never a good plan.

Paired with the fact that the three sides were all severely weakened and that the natural balance had fallen completely to chaos as a result of the disdain between the three groups, the demons were able to quickly take root and alter the world to their own image. The summoners - no with no forest to return to; The Knights - Now aware of their own fault in the situation and their lack of honour; as well as The Mages - who now had no leader to drive them on - all came to the conclusion to create a tentative truce to correct for the mistake made by all three in starting the war in the first place.

It was, by all perspectives, a fight to only prolong the inevitable, as the demons not only out numbered them, but the divine force that had granted all three their strength was weakened, as too were the strength of their forces. During this time, though, an unrelated war is raging in near-by space. Once ship, damaged well beyond repair, crashes into the planet all this is happening on. This brings forth the fourth group. By all measures, they are weak and squishy, like a regular human. What they do have though, is incredible technology. What war they were fighting in and what their goal once was has become irrelevant, as they now have no way to leave this planet. They are forced to take sides to survive.

Thats about the point that the game starts. It's actually a fairly unique premise, but it doesn't stand up to the fact that the gameplay seems rather generic.

Hybrid Action MMORPG

Expect to see these three words a lot in 2010. Looking at the video it seems identical in gameplay to WoW or any one of the many traditional MMOs from east or west. The world is standard generic Asian fantasy with Mechs thrown into the mix because fantasy games are out of fashion at the moment.

The flood of poor quality games entering the market at the moment is quite disturbing. I can't see how it can go on, there must be a limit to the amount of players willing to play games of this quality, even for free.

Developers too quickly decided that free means "make a game for free". I mean, many games aren't even translated, I can still see some japanese pop up from time to time, and the existing translations are sometimes plain weird. I have never prepared a game for the eastern audience, but when you decide to move your chinese mmo to europe, one of the main things (and maybe one of the only things) to do is to translate it.
On topic, at least the story is something different from "The god of creation created bad things, locked 'em deep down, made humans, and then misteriously died. After that, bad things came back up."

Ugh, so much "crap" onscreen you can't make out much of whatever the hell is supposedly going on.

Then again I might just be old or it's possible that actually being able to see the gfx here may show up how weak the art is, so hiding it under clouds of particle effects & giant numbers hides it's poor quality.

Terrible quality upload in any case.

As for the big numbers, that's just imbecilic in my opinion, it's like the huge "POW" "BAM" in the campy old Batman TV series, only utterly pointless.

Dl'd and played the game for about 5 minutes. The game does state it supports WASD movement, but unfortunately it does not. The graphics you saw in the video are about what it is (with all settings maxed). Character creation is typically limited by abc face types. Game seems typical of same old stuff that comes out of korea every other week. Yes you get numbers over your head while you damage stuff, but aside from that, sub par graphics/sound, mouse to move, limited in game options, its a game to pass on.

There is truly no reason to play this game. I gave it a few hours, and it's just very bland. "Cities" with a couple of NPCs in them, you have no direction when you log on but that's because the only thing you're supposed to do is go out and start killing for no reason at all. I could sort of live with that, if it was fun. But the controls are not very responsive especially when moving around. This is seriously one of the worst games I've ever played, there is no reason for it existing, I am confused as to why it was made and even more confused as to how in the world it could be ported to English. I have literally tried over 125 different online games, I download and test out every single little free to play title and pay game that comes out (and yes there are that many of them) and this is among the bottom 3... I guess if you play one of the two games in the world that exist that are worse than this, this would be an upgrade for you.
