WRUP: Hello, Aion edition
Another week culminates in another weekend. And with the launch of both Aion and Fallen Earth this week, it's a busy one! The problem, as always, comes down to countless available MMOs and only 24 hours in a day. So what's a gaming blogger to do? There are tough choices that need to be made. So, for the curious, here's what the Massively team is playing this weekend:
- Brendan Drain (@nyphur): Having spent much of this week in EVE Online preying mercilessly on miners in wormhole space, I plan to take a break from piracy to make a little ISK. I'll be blitzing some class 5 sleeper anomalies with a few buddies using a new strategy that combines remote armor repair ships with energy transfers and ECM. Other than that I'll be catching up on some reading and getting some hours in on a game design project.
- Brooke Pilley (@Snafzg): Working on my Asmo assassin in Aion. Say "Hi" on Lumiel if you see me!
- Colin Brennan (@sera_brennan): Champions. Aion. Aion. Champions. Star Wars. Board games. Mystery Science Theater 3000! Tell me that's not an epic weekend!
- Elizabeth Harper (@faience): Seeing if Dungeon Fighter Online will run on my netbook.
- Krystalle Voecks (@Krystalle): Planning to get some gaming time in with the other half this weekend unless rehearsals for Night of the Living Dead, eat his tasty brains. There will be much Fallen Earth and Dungeons and Dragons Online for us. Also hoping to pop my head in on Earth Eternal and pick up one of those nifty hats!
- Kyle Horner (@Kylehorner): Some more Champions Online for me this weekend, with a little reading on the side since I bought a brand new book.
- Shawn Schuster (@SSchuster): Running through Book 3 with the Massive Hobbits in LotRO and going to the county fair. Yeehaw!
- Tateru Nino (@taterunino): Nursing sick family back to health (we tend to come down with things in shifts). Some Champions Online and some time with an MMOG beta I can't name, if I get a chance.

Some City of Heroes, some Champions, and maybe a session or two with Guild Wars. Oh, and the fun that is my one year old daughter, who is always looking to level up! :)

These days, I had nothing special to play, so I throw in a few attacks in Adventure Quest while watching anime. Might try that Dungeon Fighter game, is it any good?

I shall be busy slaying away in Dungeons and Dragons Online, The Chronicles of Spellborn & a little Shin Megami Tensei Imagine perhaps.
Recently started a Cleric in DDO & enjoying it very much,TCOS is proving to be rather enjoyable too, I've just started playing that this week. I might get some writing done too, depends on my mood though.

If it's the "Hello, Aion edition" then why is there a screen from Champions?

I'm working, but going to try to squeeze some COH and CO in the evening. The problem is, I have several leather and latex-clad women insisting I attend a fetish night tonight. I'm seriously torn!

Working on getting to 30 this weekend for Aion and helping the legion move up in rank. (Rank 9 on the asmodian side currently, and we are on the most competitive server).

I have three five-man instances queued up on my CO main and am going to try to drum up some help for those. Some Aion, some Eve... business as usual. :)

Full on Champions Online all week for me. Loving it still. My latest character is called 'Cat Herder' and has 10 permanent pets with more temporary pets that I can put on my enemies. I don't really play the character so much as manage the pets, hence the name.
I'll probably pick up Fallen Earth once I hit 40 and get tired of so many alts in CO. That may take another month or two depending on how the content expansion goes.
I am still not understanding why so many are drawn to Aion. The more I read the less I am interested in playing it even though I got two free copies. Then again, I'm not into PvP so maybe that has something to do with it.

Heheh I agree!
I think a lot of folks are working out what they like about Aion, but I still can't, I really like it, but don't know why!!
If you got free copies (are those from Tabula Rasa?) definitely load it up and just have some fun. I love the way that things are fairly involved, it pulls me in and I have to commit to getting stuff completed, far more organized that other games!

Different strokes for different folks.
Aion is a fantasy PvP game, and that doesn't appeal to everyone.
And yeah, TR subscribers (like me) got a copy of Aion and one month for free (along with beta access and 3 months of CoX and L2).

A little Champions, helping a friend shoot some video in San Diego, just finished The Shell Game by Steve Alten, now starting a book on water by Fred Pearce...and hopefully ending the weekend with some more Champions.

I try and grind Aion - pretty game - but every time I go to fly I realize how much more fun it is to fly in Champions. Then I think about my cool dark sorcerer toon. Oh, and my Electrified Beetle! Then there is my ultra strong half man, half rhino... god I love smashing up villains. Heck, I even have a sprite-ish guy who reminds me of my Aion mage - but he decimates enemies all around him and rarely needs to stop to rest.
Classless systems FTW! Now if Champions was only a sandbox game where people could either choose to be good or evil... I drool.
