Five hot new Star Trek Online screens
Filed under: Screenshots, New titles, News items, Star Trek Online
We've got five brand new exclusive Star Trek Online screens fresh from Cryptic to gently glaze over your eyes into a glossy sheen, or not, if that's not your thing. In our opinion, this particular screen of what appears to be a Constitution class that's been heavily customized is definitely a favorite. Or wait, do we prefer the Borg cube exploding into pieces? It's kind of hard to pick a favorite.
Would we be nerdy to request some tasty screens of the newly revealed Discovery class vessel? In fact, just a bunch of screens of all the ships blasting hostiles would be just grand. Yep, that's not too demanding, especially considering this is a request coming from a bunch of Star Trek fans.

Nice pics. I'll be interested to see how the kings of customization are able to let you tweak this while still keeping you within some sort of framework. Are we looking at ppl with outrageous color schemes as trim on top of the basics grey of the ship. Or am i gonna be able to make it completely gold and black?

I am inclined to agree. Perhaps some sort of refit.
On a not-so-nerdy note: This game is looking great. The graphics and detail are picking up big time. I can't wait to see closer to release where we can get some good information about the game's systems.

Umm no... if anything, this looks more like the so-called "Excalibur Class" that was announced a while back. Which in turn is a variant on the tried and true Constitution Class from the original series, and first 6 movies.

I was talking about the image linked in the second paragraph http://www.massively.com/gallery/star-trek-online-gallery/2325145/full/

That's not based on the Intrepid Class prototype either. I would say its closer to being a Nova Class, with custom nacelles.

Darkthunder is right. Check out the Nova class here: http://memory-alpha.org/en/wiki/Nova_class
For SpikeCS (above), the ship in the fourth pic is a variant on the Excelsior class. Note the truly circular saucer section and distinctive deflector dish set deep into the secondary hull.

Hallo there Excelsior class. Funny how it got cut from the Ship List. Maybe it will be added at a later date.
