Nope, he is the guy that over charges for a machine with less power, and no matter how much you pay common sense will be the best virus, spyware, etc you can get.

Also MAC seems to think he is cool, and everyone likes his tunes, however people would love to see his phone sold on other carriers. I have heard MAC likes to sit in coffee shops and college campus.

Look on the bright side, at least most companies are smart enough to make games for WINsteon first and MAC later, if they even get around to him.

There aren't as many, especially if you don't count half-assed Cider-based ports (like I'm sure WAR is). Sure, the most popular games get ported, but little else. And even if the port is coded well, performance is generally far worse than their PC counterparts because the video card manufacturers don't give a damn about Mac drivers.

Anyone who can run Cider "ports" should be using Boot Camp for games. They'll get better performance on the same hardware and have a wider variety of games to choose from.

What's the point of having the thousands of other shitty games when the best ones are actually ported? All you need are the best ones.

Same thing with productivity software - we don't need 77 shitty word processors, we have the market leader - Microsoft Word.

The days where Macs were supposedly lacking in quality software are LONG gone.

Geez, sensitive. As a mac user, I thought he put it rather politely. And although a lot of top-selling games do eventually come to the Mac, there are still a lot of titles that don't. I'm not saying it makes it a worse off system. I love how my macbook pro functions and its prob the most carefree and easy to use computer I've ever had. But the software compatibility is something one has to take into consideration.

And don't go knocking boxed wine, my friend. It's affordable, delicious, and stacks well.

As I just said - who the hell cares about the thousands of shitty games when MOST of the AAA tites and especially MMOs, are on the Mac.

The reason WAR was ported to the Mac? They couldn't ignore the numbers anymore. At a conservative estimate, WoW has 600,000 Mac subscribers worldwide... even if WAR got HALF of those Mac users to play their game, they would outnumber the PC subscribers.

Attention to detail of the OS? I'll give you that one, They are pretty decent there.
The hardware? You mean the hardware that is designed to slow down and ultimately have you take it in either for a tune-up if it was recently purchased in two years or be forced to buy a new one?

Really, MOST MMos are out for the Mac? Maybe if most MMOs are WoW and SL.

MMOs I have to run in Crossover because there is no native client (and I'll stretch to say anything ported with Cider is "native," meaning "native" doesn't require anything else, like an emulator, loaded.

In the non-MMO sphere, only EA and Blizzard seem to have any interest in "native" development for the Mac.

Look, I drink the Kool-Aid hard and write for an Apple site, but to claim Mac gaming is anywhere NEAR the PC requires a load of booze and drugs even Hunter S. wouldn't go near.

Not saying the Mac is the first choice for gaming. But the way this "journalist" authored the article, it's completely misleading.

I knew we'd get an Apple troll. Someone who'd take offense to the concept that Apples may not have the wide swath of games that PCs have. Sir, we're not talking about "the best" games, we're talking about games in general. And, trust us when we say it, Mac gets shafted when it comes to games.

As a Mac user myself, I don't run games on my Mac. Why should I when I can just boot it into Windows Vista and run a more diverse collection over there? Most of the games I like to play aren't top 20 sellers, because most games just aren't top 20 sellers.

So here's the funny story. I could buy Civ 4 for my Mac for 50 bucks and get one expansion for it. Or, I could get the PC version from GameStop and get it for 40 bucks and get three expansions with it. Less money, more expansions for the PC!

In conclusion, while I admire your brand loyalty, we're reporting correctly. You have your own opinions on Mac as a gaming platform -- that's fine. But there are many, many facts that support that Mac just doesn't hold up to the PC gaming scene.

Theres one reason Apple does not offer that, and it's not enough profit.

Apple likes a lot of percentage cut deals, and a lot of the hardware companies like EVGA, Sparkle and XFX do not want to give.

Apple has had it's problems with the gaming industry in the past as well.
