I disagree with part of what you're saying.

While having a distinct point of view in art design is extremely important to create an immersive, cohesive and believable world, having high quality graphics is of little value.

MMOs that have focused too heavily on graphics have suffered for it. MMOs benefit more from being accessible to as many players as possible and offering a fun gameplay experience.

For example, WoW has, by many standards some of the poorest graphics on the market, and compensates by having some of the gaming world's most brilliant, fun and immersive art design.

I believe both graphics and performance are important in a game now.

I think it's important to try and keep performance requirements to a minimum but at the same time being able to function beautiful graphics.

I have to bring into example Half Life 2 and Guild Wars.
They both are dated games but have amazing graphics for it's time and do not eat too much of your computer either.

If you can't wait to try the game, download the WoW Trial, it's the same thing, except with polish and the features (most) they promised.

Although I get tired of people saying that every game is a WoW clone... sometimes it is true...

Hate to say it but this is one of those cases.

Try the game.. even the menus are exactly the same (not just similar, exactly the same, right down to the interface options) The idea of off line learning is a nice step in a different direction though.

They have a lot of unique ideas, and that is where it ends. Their study system is a knock off of Eve, and everything else is a knock off of WoW. Rangers are Druids that use bows (i.e, 3 trees, 1 ranged dps, 1 healing, and 1 tanking). Their UI is an exact carbon copy of WoW, including features like the Achievement Pane and Key Ring which they don't even use in Alganon.

So, I gather you are one of the few who got suckered into purchasing the game as an early subscriber, and now you have to defend the product, knowing it is terrible. Let me ask, when you go into the game, and see all the mobs rubber banding, does that make you happy? Or that some of the tier 1 talents effect skills you don't get for 10 levels? Or that the Soldier and Healer are exact copies of the WoW Classes for Warriors and Priests -- including the rage, err... anger mechanic and the 3 stances?

Just because they have a lot of intentions means nothing, hell do they even have a proper set up for hosting servers? Because, given the lag on their test servers with 20 people on, it would be scary to see what 1,000 people would be like. And given that they are a small company, that had to resort to lying to raise capital to keep the Beta going, do you think they have enough money to host more than 2 or 3 servers?

The thing is, Alganon DOESN'T HAVE AN ACHIEVEMENT SYSTEM. It has an Achivement WINDOW which is only there because they copied the UI from WoW. Just link the keyring icon - they don't have a keyring! But the WoW button bar does, and they copied it without even noticing that they were missing that functionality!

Did I point out the game is a fantasy world, which is also divided into two warring factions, that has two continents just like World of Warcraft? Yes, I did. Nothing if it's a tweak. But nothing they have done can be considered tweaking, nothing. It is a straight carbon copy, if you don't believe me, go play it. If you have and you don't see it, you might as well cover your eyes and ears and shout "LA LA LA" as loud as possible.

That doesn't even make sense. I am going to say this slowly, so you can understand -- when a game advertises "Unique classes" and simply relabels a class like the Druid Class from WoW and call it a Ranger, that isn't unique, it's just relabeling.

Really, constantly being fixed? Again, I have yet to see these fixes, I have seen the rubber banding mobs, I have seen the broken talent trees. I have not seen the fixes. I have seen the statement that they are fixing things, you know how float jumping still exists? Ya, I like that bug awful nice. Nothing like floating off a mountain for the realistic effect.

So, are you David Allen, or one of the QoL Employees, here is your chance -- tell us what the difference between WoW and Alganon is? Please, tell us. If it's the study system that takes a week to gain a point in, well that isn't much of a difference as the bonuses are so nominal and most of them don't function correctly that it can hardly be called a difference. So, outside of that one thing, outside of the ripped off Eve study system, what is the difference between WoW and Alganon? I will wait.

@ Darzin: The in-game Library where players will be able to build a community knwledge base, to name one. Co-dependant crafting allowing players to support eachother through crafting groups, to name another. The community site MyAlganon with built-in features for said groups and guilds to boot, to name a third. Rudimentary support for the Bartle types, to name a fourth.

You see, Quest Online would like to develop an MMO that truely supports a sense of community. Then again, the fact you're unable to grasp that concept is the best proof you should continue playing WoW.
