SWTOR's Imperial Spy gets an official reveal
Filed under: Classes, New titles, News items, Star Wars: The Old Republic
We've pretty much known about it for a while, but Star Wars: The Old Republic now officially has an Imperial Spy class. Granted, even before, we had a pretty good inkling that some kind of spy or rogue class was in the wings for the Empire players -- especially since the Smuggler had no logical counterpart.
So what's the big deal about an official announcement? A class page full of juicy information just waiting to be devoured by eager fans. The combat tactics movies are easily the most impressive section of the class page, simply because the abilities shown are exceptionally fun. We can't decide which we like more: the stun dart / targeted blaster strike or the orbital bombardment. Even the ability to throw down an energy shield in the middle of combat looks pretty cool.
Whatever your favorite ability or class happens to be, there's no doubt these new screens are looking better than before. We're always excited to see progress being made and it's heartening to have a visual reminder that Star Wars: The Old Republic is coming along.

So I have been looking over the site and I cant find anywhere how the shooting mechanic is used. Do you actually get crosshairs and get to aim your guns? Or is it A: like the failed MMO tabula rasa and has a horrible die roll elemtent? Or B: like WOW crap where you just press 1 nifty button and have all the work done for u?

Its like Ktor most likely.

If I had to guess, I'd say it'll be like Mass Effect, since that was their last big game before starting TOR. The cover mechanics in TOR look similar to how it worked in Mass Effect, so I'm hoping it's like that.

It is all ability based since there is no auto-attack. Because of that your abilities will do the firing, you don't actually get to control it yourself. So like WoW but with no auto-attack.
Check out the new video from the holonet:

The class page says Imperial Agent, why are you calling it Imperial Spy in this article? Trying to force your own idea of its name on us? They're more assassins than spies, free agents who'll do anything for the Empire(preferably killing), not just espionage.
And in other news, DarthHater has an interview about the Imperial Agent up on their site:

Kyle is doing his job correctly, as this class was not listed on the official holonet until today, it was announced on the forums.

I wouldn't say correctly, seeing as it isn't called Imperial Spy.

I guess support classes are next? It's an MMO so we need our healers/buffers.

Except BioWare confirmed long ago that there is no dedicated healing classes, that they aren't going to fall into the usual cliches of Holy Trinity Roles. So the next 2 classes are anyone's guess.
