Final SWTOR classes revealed: Jedi Consular and Sith Inquisitor
Filed under: Sci-fi, Classes, New titles, News items, Star Wars: The Old Republic
Fans of BioWare's much-anticipated MMO Star Wars: The Old Republic received some good news today with a reveal of the game's final two classes: the Jedi Consular and the Sith Inquisitor. The Jedi Consular is a support class specialized in healing, but with ranged offensive capabilities as well. The Sith Inquisitor, not surprisingly, is primarily a damage dealer. It seems the first word of the Jedi Consular and Sith Inquisitor classes came from a fan translation at Star Wars MMO.net of the German magazine "PC Games". The classes were confirmed earlier today by SWTOR Community Manager Sean Dahlberg who wrote: "Fans of Star Wars: The Old Republic will be in for a treat this week! Several magazines in North America and Europe will have articles that not only talk about The Old Republic but also reveal our final two classes: the Jedi Consular and the Sith Inquisitor!"
SWTOR fans are discussing the Jedi Consular and Sith Inquisitor classes on the official forums, and Dahlberg stated the HoloNet will be updated with more info on the newly revealed classes in December.

I'm glad to see BioWare is releasing more information for their fans. The last two classes look very nice, and it will be interesting to see how BioWare gives them each their own unique story line.
... also in before the 4FU and 2FU fanboys get in.

So now the circle is complete! What is the healing class for the Sith?

I was just thinking that myself. Maybe the full reveal will tell us?

All I know is that in KOTOR you stole an enemy's health and healed yourself.

Sith Healer? Hmmmm me thinks you do not understand the nature of the Sith.
Seriously though, there is a big question surrounding any thoughts on pvp class balances. It doesn't look as if Bioware are overly concerned with having a direct opposite class for each faction. They seem far more concerned with sticking to the lore of star wars and creating a highly immersive story driven MMO. Perhaps they will work sith healing some other less obvious way? Who knows. But I would certainly not be looking for direct class parallels.

Dark Gift sounds a lot like dark-side healing to me.. though they did not mention any specific healing abilities for the Consular.. just CC, damage and maybe mitigation if Reflect does what I think it does
The article says that the inquisitor is the "opposite" of the consular.. does that mean it's a dark-side mirror of it, or does it mean that it's different in every way? Remember that the journalists only played the inquisitor

So I was just standing out in left field today and this first size round object came out of the sky and wacked me on the head.
But seriously, this game is coming out a whole lot sooner than everyone thinks if these are indeed the final classes to be revealed.

Very nice. I half expected to hear a Diplomat class announced for the Republic. I'll most likely be playing the Jedi Consular, though, so I'm looking forward to hearing more about it.

Inquisitor skills from German Article translated: | Yesterday , 11:29 PM
Inquisitor: Saberstrike, Shock, Execute, Overcharge, Lightning-Discharge, Whirlwind, Dark Gift, Call Shuttle, Dark meditation
The article mentions that Inquisitor has very offensive abilities, and is much more focused on shorter range abilities. Also, the Inquisitor is wielding a twin-bladed lightsaber.
I cannot quote more, or post a link, for fear of this thread being deleted. Apparently there is a copyright issue with posting links to it on this site.
Hope this is helpful.

Not happy to be honest, 2 more force classes are all well and good but where Is the Noble/Senator class which has been iconic throughout EVERY star wars film?
Where is the droid class, droids arent just background characters in Star Wars, two of them were VERY integral to the story, because they have personalities.
I certainly hope they rethink 8 pretty soon after release and get some more classes in then.. lets not have another SWG Jedi fest..

I'm not to crazy about the Jedi focus either but this is based on KotOR and unfortunately Jedi sell according to Lucas Arts.
I just watched the original trilogy with the kids (we are all at home with H1N1) and it's pretty refreshing to see a SW universe without Jedi and that's how I pretty much grew up with SW, Jedi free.
These days it's totally overdone.
They went from guys who used "laser" swords and if they squinted real hard they could wiggle something and maybe move it with their thoughts to these all powerful demigods that can throw spaceships at each other while flying through the air fighting.
The charm of the vast SW universe is totally overshadowed but the need to paint everything in brown Jedi robes these days.

Totally with you Torak!
Jedi is the opiate of the masses and for the weak minded. No government based on theoracy could ever be free!
I was always a Han Solo guy.

Torak, perhaps the H1N1 was affecting your mind. Maybe you should watch the movies again. There was Obiwan (Jedi Master), Yoda (Jedi Master), Luke (Jedi Trainee), and Leia (Force Sensitive). There was also Darth Vader (Sith and ex-Jedi) and Palpatine (Sith Lord/Master). Hardly, Jedi-free.
There are two non-force using classes per faction in TOR. Seems even right now. I have no doubt more classes will be added after launch. I love Jedi, but I also plan on playing as a Smuggler and a Trooper. Lets give the Jedi/Sith hating a rest. You can play what you want.

Cool, I can be a healer. But will there be reason to, is the question. Or would one just find it handy to be able to heal oneself or ones friend while wandering the world alone, or alone in a crowd who barely has to work together?

bioware has yet to reveal how the healing system works, as well as the companion system.
so jumping to conclusions about healing 'classes' and droids not being part of the game is a bit early.
yes they are 2 more force users, however they are very different and go down a less physical route with more support capability's

I want to slap Bioware with some SW lore. Another Jedi and Sith class? If you wanted a healing class/dmg class, just make a Medic with damage potential. Oh and BTW Bioware, Jedi that specialize in healing are not called "consular", they are called Jedi Healers (Wookieepedia: Jedi Healer – Some Jedi would focus on the more Humanitarian aspects of the Force, specializing in Force powers based on Force healing. In addition to knowledge of such Force powers, also had extensive knowledge of medicine and medical technology. Jedi healers were normally stationed at the Jedi Medical Corps Infirmary, but would also serve in the field. For instance, around the time of the Clone Wars, Jedi healers would serve aboard MedStar frigates and, occasionally, in Republic's mobile surgical units ("Rimsoos").). Also, if you gonna mess up Sith Lore as well, the ones that were brutal Sith, ones you would called Damage Dealers, were the Sith Marauders! Inquisitors were created during PALPATINE's TIME!(don't believe me, google it, I just about choked when I saw this little time paradox lol). Stick with the lore, stop putting stuff that makes no sense. Bounty Hunters and Smugglers are NEUTRAL by nature, why the hell are they in the factions? Do you even know how much the smugglers fear the Jedi for always busting them? Ever heard of the BOUNTY HUNTERS GUILD, a neutral organization?! Please read about what you are trying to make before you make it Bioware. If each class will have its own back story, than making another Jedi and Sith class its pointless, since both will have the same back story until they decide "I'll be a Counsular or Inquisitor", then their path would be different, but still it makes no sense. Come on Bioware, you can do better. Want a healing class, make a Medic class. Want to make a DD class for Sith, choose something that's not force related(if you want to mess things up like you did with Inquisitor, mixing up timelines, make Imperial Guard your DD class!) Very disappointed with those class choices man :(

Wow.. somebody needs to get out of themselves out of their nerd-cave and realize that it's just a game.
Fanatical fans like you will NEVER be happy. Bioware is trying to make a game here to please as many people as they can; in my mind they are well on their way to achieving that goal.
