New EVE Online trailer shows the glory of Dominion
Filed under: Sci-fi, Video, EVE Online, Expansions

Of course, we'd be remiss if we didn't mention that CCP are also increasing the beauty of New Eden once again by introducing new procedurally-generated planet textures -- a welcome addition for those who may not spend all their time in 0.0. After all, while the huge battles are awesome to watch, empires can be toppled by one person quietly flying around, minding their own business -- and yours. Be sure to check out the full Dominion site for all the juicy details of what's to come on the first. Alternately, if you just like enormous space battles made of 100% unadulterated ass-kicking awesome, then check behind the break for the new Dominion trailer. You won't be disappointed!

It all has to do with New Eden coming closer to Incarna and DUST 514.

Yes we are Oh so close to those but before then, I cant wait for planetary interaction I've already started looking for habitable planets that might be on the list of planets you can interact with. I'm hoping for the ability to hit ice planets, now that would be a treat.
And yes the vid looks awesome although some people would say its so very far-fetched from what would really happen in Eve but I think its the actionized version of what would happen in Eve.

Those weapons they fired at the end there seem a liiiiittle overpowered. Not that I know anything about Eve.

If you knew what it could do before, you wouldn't say that.

Dude.... as Dirame said, once u have been in a fleet where 50% of the battleships haz been wiped out by just one of the titan's old doomsday, u won't argue that the titan nerf was badly needed :P...

We're fighting Russian alliances on 2 fronts right now, this trailer hits pretty close to home.
Also: "Too late, already in warp"
Too true...

That looks awesome. If EVE's formula of 20% combat, 80% resourcing, exploration, and market watching was reversed, I'd be into this game. Still, looks pretty sweet.

That is one incredible trailer. It looks like mostly the in-game graphics engine, except for some of the superimposed "icon tags" and the subtitles.

It's a bit "spiced up", but along with the fleet comms it's actually very nice but somewhat romanticized picture of a real EVE fleet battle.

The main thing that impresses me about this trailer is that the voice overs are both fairly accurate in terms of what you hear on a ventrilo server during a large engagement like that without breaking immersion and sounding out of place for the setting.

Oh, if EVE were just anything like in this trailer! If they used the normal ship movement and normal weapons fire, this movie would be as boring as the standard EVE fight really is. Marketing... all illusions and lies. Good trailer though.

Great video. The only thing that is missing is the huge lag that accompanies large fleet battles.
What I love about EVE is that it's a tactical game. There is no balanced PvP maps. Numbers matter but yet, gorilla warfare is effective and encouraged. A small team with the right tactics can bring a fleet of 100s to QQ.
It's slow because it's not combat all the time. There is a sense of realism in EVE...plus, there are fights available if you really want it...but there is a price to be paid for making mistakes. You just don't come running back as a ghost.
Maybe some day, they will make one man ships that can be piloted via joystick...for anything larger than a shuttle though, it's a bit realistic. If you think piloting a EVE ship is slow, try driving an aircraft carrier (speaking from the experience of one that's actually parallel parked one).

I heard 'supercarrier', didn't I?
For those who don't follow the dev blogs/visit the forums that's what tehy were doing to the mothership class for Dominion which has since been canceled.)

Great looking trailer, it's just a shame that what they show in the trailers bears no resemblance to how the game actually played.

I don't know where you are spending your time in EVE, but the trailer is pretty accurate in what happens in 0.0 combat. Ditch the camera swooping, the nano-damn and the ui fluff, and it's pretty much what you get. Even the chatter isn't that far off.
Sure, it's still not *entirely* accurate, but still very close.

Dont worry for some reason people who spend all there time in stations seem to think this gives them super knowledge of eve battles.
Trailer is awesome. So what if it has some glitz added they all do that. But most eve trailers atleast look like eve the game.
