One Shots: Red skies

While some are starting to shy away from the lands of Aion, others are taking advantage of holiday sale pricing to check it out for the first time. After all, servers are more stable than they were at launch, and NCsoft is addressing the botting and spam issues that have plagued the game since the earliest days -- as well as the game being cheaper to purchase. Today we have another lovely Aion image, this time sent by a new face, Darkanx, who tells us a bit more about this scene.

Hi this is my first submission to One Shots. I've taken so many Aion screenshots just for fun that I figured I'd send one in. This is a picture of my Gladiator Darkanx in the Belusan Zone as I was just wrapping up some of the first quests you get when you arrive there. I've decided to go the route of dual wielding and its been a lot of fun because there are not many DW Glads on my server so it sets me apart. The only downside is that buying all the +crit manastones kind of burned a hole in my wallet for a while but it was way worth it. I also changed the appearance of my plate leggings to look like cloth because it just gives this sweet royal guard look.

Holiday Pricing? I'd like to know where this is at, I've been on the verge of purchasing Aion but the $49.95 pricetag and no free trial has been holding me back. So if anyone sees where this holiday pricing is, I'd love to find out.

The cheapest I've heard of was Amazon.com at $34.98

There are resellers selling new ones cheaper there too, but obviously that's at your own risk.

I would also like to know about the holiday pricing. The biggest discount I've seen is Amazon ($35) but I hate to buy hard copies when Steam or direct to drive would make things so much easier and faster

I haven't seen a download-only sale. Kind of funny - you'd think those would be the cheaper ones considering there's no shipping, no warehouse employees, no fulfillment department, no QA to check orders, etc.

Hopefully on Cyber Monday we'll see some download-only e-tailers drop their prices on it a bit.

Oh, also meant to add that you can catch the PlayNC time cards fairly cheap at GoGamer.com: $20 for two months of game time.

i had to spend 60bucks on it... and its not working. Im having some serious lag issues(10k+ms) when i attempt to log in. Although, I am successfully logged in 1/1000 times, and was hoping leaving him logged in would be the way to go. But seems it automatically boots you after being logged in for more than 24hrs =O... "you have been playing way too long plz take a break"(I WISH!).

Not sure if ill be able to solve this problem BUT at least NCSoft has been providing some very quick tech support service. Their replying fairly quickly.

Digging the graphics, as portrayed by this photo... and i would play Aion>WAR>WoW(till cataclysm).

How well does this game run on ATI cards? I have an ATI 4870 x2 (driver version 9.2) ...any known major issues?

This game looks amazing...i don't mind a bit of level grinding now and then...I've reached the 'end game' in WOW and it's....kinda boring really. >_<

Oh and is game guard still out of the program? I was beyond mad when they left it in the beta....I really hope it doesn't come back in any way, shape, or form. o_O

It's screen shots like this that make me want to play the game.....

I play the game with one HD 4850 and it runs at 1680x1050 at full settings with virtually flawless frame rates.

Thank you very much! Due to them getting rid of Game Guard I've been really really tempted to give this game a spin. It looks amazing!

I don't mid a bit of a level grind...cuz believe me the 'end game' in WOW is far from exciting. >_

According to some of the podcasts I've been listening to game guard was indeed left out of the American release of the game. NC Soft got more than there share of complaints about it during the beta.

I'm this close to ordering the game but I'll probably wait 'till Monday and see if anyone has it on sale. Steam is having new deals each day this weekend so it might pay to be patient.
