Funcom reveals more of Rise of the Godslayer's Chosain Province

But the Chosain Province is home to much more than just the Tigers and Scholars. Corruption has worked its way deep into the land, warping nature and spreading with each passing day. Roads are becoming broken as they lead through swamps and war-torn land.
This time around, Funcom is introducing us once again to Chosain via beautiful concept art and a brand new trailer that highlights specific areas of the zone. With STO not catching my attention like I had hoped, I am in MMO limbo trrying to decide what to go back to.
AoC is one of my major considerations.

It has a free trial. Give it a spin.
It's a very fun game if you enjoy a lot of free-for-all PvP.
I am very excited for RotGS.

I apologize for the double post, but one of the things (as shown in the video) is the amazingly detailed environments. I've played several MMO's and this one is my favorite as far as graphics and immersion go.

AoC always had amazing graphics. It brings my machine to it's knees on high settings, but is a beautiful looking game even on medium settings.

I can't wait for this expansion!!! They're doing so much to turn this game around, and adding so much content with this expansion that it's incredible. I've never seen a game have such a rocky launch come back this strong, I think everyone should try it again that has quit once the new update comes out soon, introducing alot of new features including a guild system revamp.

I've never tried Age of Conan out, but honestly, after seeing all the work they have done, I'm starting to change my mind. I'm getting ready to hop into the Free Trial, and see if I like what's going on.
I love PvP, and I've heard that the game offers some of the best now that they have worked out the problems.

I can only speak for myself. I was very excited about Age of Conan. Got 10-20 people to play it and everyone including me gave up on it after a month or so. The graphics engine while providing stunning graphics is horribly unsuited for an mmo. The framerate during siege combat even though improved now is still horrible. It is as if it renders the images on the screen first in a low res and then a high res version. Beyond slow and badly optimized. Compared to say a farcry or unreal engine it is a joke.
Also hate the way they send out free play time and then without asking re-activate your account again without asking.
As long as I live I will never ever play another game from Funcom.

I highly recommend anyone teetering on the edge, or burnt by the launch, to create a trial account and at least go back for a second look.
I'm no AoC fangirl per-se, but you may find yourself pleasantly surprised at what you find, especially now you can compare it to some of the dross that's been released elsewhere in the past two years.
Thinking back to AoC's launch era, there was a lot of competition in terms of A+++ titles - these days i'd say we've lowered our expectations based upon what's come out of late, and as a result you may find AoC to actually be of higher quality than you're lead to remember.
Also, I guess it's different for each of us, but i've never had problems running AoC (framerate etc). As long as you're adjusting the graphics (which actually scale really well) you shouldn't have any issues if your drivers are up to date etc.
Having said that, if you're still clinging on to your favourite P4 90 with 8mb of ram.. well yah you're going to have fun watching a slideshow. It *is* 2010 afterall.. ;p

AOC graphics are intense. But they have been very well optimized especially recently. I have run AOC full settings on my laptops with an average of 15-20 fps.

Probably because most people are tired of all the negativity. Then again, I'm just guessing here.
The truth is that AoC has really come a long way since Gaute Godager stepped down.
Of course, I'm sure there was a lot more behind this turn of events than a simple change of directors, but the truth is that Age of Conan is now a very enjoyable experience.
Bah, I don't think I'll be able to resist the RotG temptation!

I am a supporter of Craig Morrison due to how he turned AO around when he was leading their team. I wish him the best, what he does best is "cleanup" then moves forward with good content.
I am using an intel e6400 with a ATI 4850, windows 7 with 4gbs of ram. Would this handle the game very well?

I used to run AoC with an e6400, a Geforce 8800 GT and 4GB of DDR2 and I never had any performance issues. I'm guessing you would be fine.

I really enjoyed my brief time in AoC. I was able to take advantage of a free trial thanks to Funcom handing out discs at Dragon*Con last year. Sadly, I had issues with a memory leak that caused the game to crash after a certain time period. According to the intarwebs, the memory leak had already been fixed by the time I was having problems. Silly me. :( I was not able to find a solution by the time my trial was up...
