One Shots: Good is a relative term
Filed under: Fantasy, Screenshots, Warhammer Online, One Shots
According to some, the forces of Order are supposed to be the 'good' guys. There again, we've probably all had that moment when we checked out the gear on a dead NPC and wished we could pick it up because it looked cool -- or at least beat the crap out of whatever we were carrying at the time. Today's Warhammer Online One Shots comes to us from John P. who decided to speak up as a couple of NPC were about to bury one of the fallen heroes. He writes:
In Warhammer Online, there's a little scripted event in the Elf starter zone where some elves are sending off one of their dead lords. Seems like a shame to waste all that good equipment. Yes, I was just trying to be cute.
Seen (or done) something silly in your favorite MMO recently? If so, we'd love to see screenshots of it. Just send those to us here at oneshots AT massively DOT com along with your name and the game it's from. Make sure to add in a quick note about what we're seeing, too. We'll post it here and give you the credit for it!

Welcome to the Warhammer universes (Fantasy and 40k) where this is no 'good' in the traditional sense :-)
Even in the MMO where they combined forces that normally wouldn't think of anything but killing each other (Chaos, Orks) to make it easier for the mmo players. Order isn't necessarily good in this case.
It's easier to see in their 40k universe, where the Imperium of Man is by no means even close to being good.
Funny picture...

Like the part where 10 thousand people a day are sacrificed to the Emperor?
No kidding.

lol yeah no kidding. I was just talking about that yesterday..
For people that aren't familiar, think of good in terms of the Spanish Inquisition, but in a much greater sense.
Good becomes 'us', and evil becomes 'not us'. Of course, some things kinda do fall into the realm of true evil. The leaders behind Chaos in both realms would probably fall into that category.

Hey CyberNigma,
That is the coolest thing about 40k is the ambiguity. And while Its certainly obvious the traitor legions and anyone living inside the warp is "evil" now, the fall of Horus originally could be considered quite tragic.
Theirs some fluff that suggests the Heresy happened because the legions closest to the emperor were spreading rumors about Horus because he and his allies were so far away, and were considered to be favored more. Perhaps it was just dark whisperings in Horus' ear, but he made haste back to Terra originally to stop the spread of lies, and that was when the Chaos gods all stepped in and began intervening, and made the legions make dark pacts and stuff, by the time they were even half way back to earth it was all over.
Not to mention, theirs lots of fluff suggesting that even now, if humanity would just let the emperor die, he would be reborn again anew, and a new golden age could begin, but its all the dirty corrupt adminsters and stuff that are keeping the emperor jacked in his stasis chamber, stuck between both life and death.
Man those guys at vigil better not mess up that MMO!
